depends on whether or not I know where I made the mistake :)

    Muscle memory

I don't think this is strange: passwords are often muscle memory, so you don't have an exact representation of what letter went wrong only that something isn't right. It's a bit like the order of the alphabet I have to sing the sing from the beginning to find a certain letter order.

@Charmgoggles mostly I don't know where it went wrong since I'm too lazy to count the letters and I can't see them cause of the password field :p

@yarwest yeah it is less effort to just retype

I could probably stop when I realized I've entered a wrong character, but I just keep going. Sometimes I'll write a few sentences or funny anecdotes just in case the server I am logging into has gained sentience and is having a bad day.

Sometimes I'm able to correct my mistake. Feels good when I do, but I usually just backspace everything.

    depends of the password

Especially on certain work systems where you get locked out after too many mistakes... It's too much of an embarrassment to have to call the help desk to get my account reset.

    I'm in the 1% group!

I see people do it even when writting non passwords texts, like emails, presentations, word docs and even on whiteboards

@Shago how is that going to help.
  • 2
When running sudo on linux, idk where i fucked up so i just delete everything and type it again

    @SweetHuman I can't help it

@DLMousey tbh, except backspaces, everything is grammaticaly correct...

Right click -> Inspect element -> replace input type="password" by type="text"...

When I'm lazy to backspace a password which is not "qwerty".

I do ctrl+a then backspace. Saves more time as i don't know my password. It's in my muscle memory

Everyone saying select all and backspace....

Why??? You can ctrl+a and type your password, backspace is redundant.

@FractalSystems you think you are smarter than us by saving one keystroke? Well, I have news to you sir, I paid for that keyboard and I intend to make every single key good use of my money.
Comments like these makes me lose control.
