Windows users be like "Oh, it's fine. Our tent comfortably fits all my family and it's cold there for only half a year, but not too cold, just wear a coat while you're inside and you'll be fine. Clean water is only two miles away, walking is healthy after all. Yes, agents come every week and rape my wife but it only happens to newbs and honestly I respect that ritual, this is how life works. You only have to send three papers to them to ask them please not to rape us this week and they don't come for a whole week! I ain't stupid, I always carry my gun with me to shoot thugs"

Living with MacOS is just living. You pay the fee and they let you in.

Living with Linux can be just living too, but it can be much more, your skill and willingness to learn are always rewarded. I've been there, I used Arch.

But living with windows is always survival.

    @frogstair living in that tent is literally a breeze, for sure. That’s what I said

    @frogstair

    Windows = better for games

    Linux = better for servers (and some development)

    MacOS = better for product placement in movies

    @frogstair I was using windows for years. I was managing windows workstations and servers in the military. It's always something small and annoying. I don't WANT to go to settings for the system to just work properly and not to send the fucking screenshots to some fucking unknown IP right after the installation. That's not some malware, that's a default Windows 10.

    I'm not going to post there all the wrong things and annoyances I got from windows while using it, i know you going to throw some registry keys and PowerShell (tm) fixes, but here's an example:

    I was using firefox as usual. No extensions, just plain chrome. Not even devtools, I was just browsing. Suddenly all my tabs was closed except for one, and that one tab had no title. Shortcuts didn't work, as well as ui buttons. Browser was unusable. After the restart it was fine though. Come on, blame it on firefox.

    @Demolishun *laughing in 2 pounds macbook while developing a heavy frontend with heavy webpack and 48 chrome tabs and slack opened simultaneously while everything is 60fps*

    To be fair tho, windows IS better for games now, but not because of windows itself but because there's no alternatives for a PC gamer

    Use whatever the crap works best for you. Seriously.

    @frogstair oh fuck. it was firefox. I switched to chrome now and everytime I talk about what browser I use I just type "chrome"

    Windows is the master of vendor lock in.

    @uyouthe "48 chrome tabs" Have you got 128GB of RAM?! ;-) MacOS is fine, its mac users that are fun to harass.

    Develop on whatever your server is. Do whatever you want in your free time.

    Windows is better for AAA games, which can all eat my ass.

    @bahua There is a mod for that in Skyrim!

    Legit trying to force an OS war is a massive waste of time and energy as well as neurons

    Windows and MacOS are both managed by corporations that are beholden to government regulation, and as such will not hesitate to comply with law enforcement agencies that want your data. Similarly, they maintain commercial relationships with various, "partners," and will not hesitate to give or sell your data to them. You agreed you this arrangement when you accepted the terms to use the operating system.

    No such nonsense occurs in Linux, as no major corporation has a monopoly on the entire system. Corporations are permitted to contribute code, but they are subject to review and approval by the community, which has the interest of the users in mind, not the corporation.

    @bahua
    I agree and also wonder what you're hiding now ;)

    @SortOfTested

    Nothing! And neither are you. So let's just put our account and routing numbers on a medium post.

    @bahua yes. As much as I enjoy MacOS, the freedom and lack of corporate bullshit that Linux ensures are undeniable.

    @frogstair But that's the thing, an argument can be valid, even if you don't agree with it.
    I've give quite some examples/arguments here that some people don't agree with, but that doesn't make the argument invalid.
