Why? Used boot camp previously but if you don't need anything windows specific then youre not missing much besides another operating system to use your resources

CptFox16164yWorks fine, I used to play on my MBP using bootcamp. Still, only reason to do so is it you have Windows specific software that you're missing
-
@ScribeOfGoD @CptFox Actually I have a subject this semester which requires me to use Turbo C for Graphics related work. Now the problem is that it is Windows specific. Is there an alternative (which is free) like using a virtual machine? What do you suggest would be better? I believe installing windows using bootcamp on an external drive would be better..

CptFox16164y@devAstated I'd say a VM is probably just as good, I've never tried bootcamp on external drives, so I can't really help you with that
-
@CptFox I'm referring to a video for that from '9 to 5 Mac' channel. It's fairly easy. Just need to download an iso file and install windows on the external drive using a tool, and then mount it as the bootcamp drive on Mac.

@ScribeOfGoD I have 8GB of RAM and 256GB disk space (with around 140GB free). I have an external hard drive of 1 TB that I am thinking of using as the Bootcamp drive. Do you still recommend VM?

jeeper58094yWhat could you possibly want to do that a properly configured VM won’t achieve? If it’s high end gaming it doesn’t matter because the heat dissipation on a Mac is atrocious. Anything I can think of where it would be an advantage to have windows run on the metal is a scenario where it would just make sense to build a decent windows desktop.

I did. Drivers are shit (bLuEsCrEeN), iGPU is disabled (if you have a dedicated GPU), hence battery life is shit and it's so hot that you could fry an egg on it. Also something will eventually mess up the synchronized MBR & GPT tables, though I'm not sure if that's still how bootcamp operates.
