When you're making a GitHub students account:
"We'll email you in a few weeks"
5 seconds later, you'll recieve an email:
"Hey <username>, we have some awesome news

We've upgraded you to a plan with unlimited free private repositories, which will be free for the next two years."

GitHub, I don't think you know what weeks are, lmao

Then those "2 years" might be a little less than 2 years

You were lucky, the first time I applied I waited for about a week.

@anto1ne97 nope. In fact, I almost got 2 and a half out of that

When I did it I had to wait about 6 weeks 😐

Your definitely lucky. I know people who had to wait up to 4 weeks at times :)

I only had to wait a few minutes too, both times I applied! Maybe there's some whitelist of emails which instantly gets through.

The reason they do this is because it is based on your student email address, certain educational institutes might make it hard or easier to validate a student as being a student

Don't use student email. Use your normal one and upload student id pic. You dont want any project to be deleted by mistake dp you?

@zarkopafilis you can attach multiple emails to one account, I have two private emails and one student email on there

@yarwest oh well time to do this as well

@zarkopafilis My account is private email, but I did student registration with my student email. Guess the HTL Donaustadt is popular there.

I waited for over 4 months literally haha
