I'm surprised no one mentioned anything about Nvidia's new 30xx cards here on devRant. Or someone already did but I didn't see it?

    In b4 10 pages of Nvidia sucks AMD is the way, the truth and the light.

    Well most devs dont need those ultra powerful GPUs. The only devs I know would need them are machine learning engineers data scientist and game devs and devs who wanna play ray traced games

    I'm interested in new video cards, but waiting for AMD response. Nvidia cards this time seem like a good deal, unlike last generation. But right now those are just claims with no backing

    There was at least one post, though I don't have the link right now.

    @iiii Agreed
    They've released a new "comparison video" yesterday but that's probably cherry-picked, so I'd love to see some real benchmarks, now.

    Personally I think Nvidia is good only for CUDA, as a gamer or developer. Otherwise Nvidia sadly don't have anything over AMD. Especially as linux user, they are (most likely) worst company how they handle linux.

    Edit, but this discussion is so many times gone through so no one anymore cares

    @amatrelan what about quality of drivers? Their drivers are approximately 2 times less faulty than AMD drivers with the latest generation of video cards.

    PS: not trying to diss AMD. I'm rooting for AMD. But those are facts.

    nVidia driver problems
    Also, I just don’t play games anymore. I don’t really have the time. And the games I do play don’t have intense graphics. My 970ssc is fine. And in the event it isn’t, I have a second identical one (handmedown) I can run via SLI. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Anyway. The new cards really are amazing. Same with DLSS.

    @Root wow, someone still uses SLI O_o

    @iiii I don't have used AMD long time so can't say about them anything, I need CUDA, but can't say Nvidia linux drivers is not faulty. Especially their bs they try to push wayland, basically I can't use wayland now at all cause of Nvidia bs.

    @amatrelan true, I've meant windows drivers mainly. AMD is more open to open source drivers so they are generally more robust for linux.

    @iiii I don’t, but I have the cards so I might?

    @iiii Not only that AMD is more open, but also that they contribute tons of things to open source, for ex Vulcan. And in development of wayland AMD was "active" member forming wayland protocol, but Nvidia thinks he is the king and has last word, so they came in like "this is how it has to be done" and didn't in the end support wayland, they put their own bs. And now again wayland is getting similar to X, fragmental mess.

    Nvidia had long time to come contribute to wayland but no, they are literally just doing their own ass. I, and every developer who has followed and watched wayland growing knows that Nvidia don't know clearly dog shit about open source development or about development in general. That company is good only buzzword generator (and for CUDA) but that's all.

    @amatrelan AMD being more open is why I'm rooting for them even though their graphics products aren't that great yet. I hope the new release reveals something really good.

    @iiii Though they made very good integrated graphics for a decent amount of time but intel released tiger lake so intel has the integrated graphics crown agian
