I have been using OSX for 3 years. My MacBook got out of order. I am going to buy a new laptop ( not MacBook). Suggest me which Linux distro to install?

@lig1 Even my first choice is Fedora. I have used it little bit before. Can you justify your answer though?
It will be very helpful for me.

@arunabhghosal Check out antergos. Its based on arch. You still get rolling updates bit after tested well enough. Or if you like to be on the bleeding edge, you can add AUR and be on sync with arch.

@ganesshkumar Thank you. I will surely try this out.

@arunabhghosal the main reasons are on the website. It's current, truly free and community driven. And they always bring the latest Gnome as well as editions based on other popular DEs.
Also all software in the Fedora repos is original without distribution specific bloat patches in contrast with Ubuntu.

@lig1 Thank you, I didn't know about the repository thing you told.

I'm using Ubuntu on my laptop for about 2 years and it works very well.

@LukBukkit In my college they use Ubuntu. But as @lig1 said, we have to download separate patches in Ubuntu for any software that we download.

Elementary os looks pretty similar to osx, otherwise, I'd recommend mint

@linuxxx I guess its more than the look and feel. I get annoyed by the fact that OS X doesn't expose sound device via /dev/snd

@arunabhghosal what do you mean by patches? Downloading dependencies via packet manager?

@r4nter yes. Because all the Debian based OS have same repo.

@arunabhghosal that's actually a good thing. Linux has a lot less redundant libraries.

@r4nter I am comparing Ubuntu and Fedora, both are Linux only. In Fedora repository you just have to download the package no extra patches required. This is not the case with Ubuntu.
