I'm just getting into the developing scene. I'm looking for learning sources and outlets to get started with.

Thanks! Most of my security leads have been corporate based so a lot of SQL.

Security has a lot of areas as well. Web, software, hardware, network, infrastructure, etc.

I've been slowly working my way towards a security based career. There's much to learn.

c++ java and python seem to be the go to for scripting attacks

I'm just learning so I try to familiarise myself with the data as much as possible. I feel like if you know the infrastructure well enough its easier to spot if something's sick. Its like studying anatomy when you're a doctor. Know the body and its easier to understand what's attacking it. But is is just as important to learn the others you mentioned. Like I said, I'm just learning.
