I wrote some 3d opengl application years back on a windows machone. wanted to get back into it except now i have a macbook and apple no longer supports opengl in favor of their own metal graphics library

why cant people just let other technologies be. why do we have to keep deprecating stuff. why cant we just chill...

    If we wouldnt deprecate stuff most banking systems would still run on MS-DOS instead of now XP and hopefully fucking soon windows 10(or some linux but dont get your hopes up finance hates linux with passion)

    These arguments are all nice, but OpenGL is a bad example because it's the only universal graphics library. By abandoning OpenGL Apple didn't block some random unsupported lib, they blocked the largest graphics library with the broadest platform support, even without Apple.

    It's not that opengl isn't supported anymore, it's just apple

    Any other platform will run that without issues
