Manager brings up an idea, asks how long it would take to build out. I tell him a couple hours. I can be nice sometimes when the workload is light.

Build it out, make some improvements at home, create a dashboard so he can make small configuration changes.

We never use it.

Eventually your heart will go hard and instead of saying it will take a few hours you will say 1 week and tell them is may break all the fancy designery dashboards in the system. They will only repay your cooperation with more and more "wouldn't be great if" requests. I have worked overnight to get these one offs done only to be criticized the next day for not having enough passion.

    Lesson learned. Fool me once...

@georgelynch negative is my normal response though. I'm a pain in the ass to these guys because they started it. Haha. I feel bad for the new group of guys I'm doing the startup with. They get some heat from me because of the first group.

Regardless, all projects, even when never used, as far as coding goes, I pretty much always learn something new, so they ultimately benefit me.

Just like bitching about my managers.
