People should just die now. It's over.

We all know that businesses started utilizing Facebook and Instagram, now even government offices and hospitals use it. I called this hospital for a check-up and they said if it's not a life-threatening situation, I should just go to this Facebook page. Okay, fuck this shit but let's create a dummy account.

I messaged them and they said that in order to proceed, they need a government ID, previous prescriptions, and my membership card. Send all these things via Facebook messenger, what the fuck? I just have nothing else to say.

The thing that brings tears to my eyes is the fact that even you choose not to do it, some of their employees may have been passing around your information this way. It's messed up. I'm losing hope. I already lost my energy.

    Ah! you're back.

    We were worried.

    Edit: I have lost hope on society because of Facebook.

    And people complain about them using fax...

    Wtf that's insane. Might as well hand over your data to anyone who wants it then. That shit would n e v e r fly around here lmao. I'd tear them a new one for even asking me to go on Facebook. They cannot demand that the absolute cunts. Holy shit this makes my blood boil

    > That shit would n e v e r fly around here

    ahh, the illusion of GDPR!
  • 6
    @molaram I actually just meant with me. I'd walk out the door and die from not receiving treatment before I handed over my data via Facebook :^)

    schools even use facebook to do school stuff like managing classes, and managing files submitted to them.

    I have to change my profile name because it is a requirement from them to let me join their group. I will not be surprised if I will have to change my profile picture as well.

    My son's school uses Teams, I'm sure that's a lot safer 🤔
  • 6
    @nibor I reckon it is. Teams costs money and is sold to businesses. If it came out that ms was selling that data their customers wouldn't just write blog posts about it. They'd sue and switch to a competitor. That's company secrets and shit, you don't fuck with that.

    @F1973 with these news the search&rescue choppers have been called off.
  • 1
    That is the most ridiculous shit I've heard today.
  • 1
    Also that shit really wouldn't fly here because we have laws here that e.g. require larger companies to give someone the title of data protection officer, who would nope the fuck out of having health data sent over fucking facebook unless he really wants his ass to be on fire a few months down the road.

    It's not like a leak where you point fingers and show proof of having put in some minimum effort to get out of legal issues with a pat on the fingers.

    @theKarlisK Yayyy we saved Rutee

    The reaction in this thread compared to the reaction I got from posting this in a thread including people from my own country has convinced me that I really should move somewhere else. The people here don't care and think Facebook is so convenient. My values do not align with my own people's values at all.
  • 7
    @theKarlisK @F1973 I thought you guys sent the search and rescue choppers to rescue people from me. I didn't know you were trying to rescue me.

    Awww. :') *throws away chainsaw and runs towards you for a group hug*
  • 3
    @rutee07 *unzips*
  • 3
    @F1973 Ooh, would that zipper open up the fabric to your crotch or open up body bags for my corpses? Either way, I am thrilled. We can do both, you know. *wink* *wink*
  • 3
    @rutee07 whichever opens, the package inside is dead already.
  • 3
    @F1973 Hahahaha. I did not expect that.
  • 1
    Wait, Facebook is still a thing?

    I read a news article a decade ago wich speculated over the next big "social" network because children are not using Facebook anymore to avoid being at their parents' platform...
  • 1
    @rutee07 that's what she said.
  • 2
    @rutee07 I think that can be said about most type of people. Like look at my fellow danes, i have seen so many of those idiots online crying about privacy are for criminals and "if you don't have anything to hide you should be safe".

    The people in general dont care about privacy or how our/their data is storage/secure.

    Its kinda sad, i would trust my data is more safe on facebook than in my government own system, only like few months ago, up to 46K people who have been/are conscripts of the millitary got their medical records leaked, due to people could access it on the 3rd part company that hosted the server.
  • 2
    @Frederick I don't really care as much as linuxxx or the others about privacy. I'm not bothered by people using social media but sending government IDs and prescriptions via Facebook messenger is pretty extreme for me.
  • 1
    @rutee07 Same.

    But that also made me think about something that happen in my country like few months ago, i edited it into my first comment.
  • 1
    @Frederick Wow. That is messed up.
  • 1
    @rutee07 Luckly i wasnt one of them, but my friend did get a mail from the government because he were one of the 46K people that were affected.
  • 2
    @Frederick people don't appear to care about their private data because they don't understand what 3rd parties can do with such data and how it affects them albeit indirectly.
  • 3
    @rutee07 first an apology I didn't welcome you back, my rutee chan. ;)

    Second... As a half dead person with a lot of medical files... Nope.

    Medical files and telecommunications should never mix. CD-Rom / DVD Rom with CT / MRT pictures... Okay.

    I'm already pissed because in Germany they try to establish a system for that... And yeah. It's bad. Reaaally bad.

    To shorten it up: Privacy is one thing. But medical files aren't privacy - more intimacy.

    Medicamentation, allergies, neural / psychological / physiological deficiencies... And so on.

    It's one shitty feeling going to a doctor and having the talk with 100s of pages of medical shit....

    But when a doctor knows all that before you even visited him...

    My worst nightmare is that a Doctor tells me in a polite way to fuck off.

    Eg.: I'm sorry, but my level of knowledge isn't sufficient to treat you properly, I have to decline your request for a visit.

    (Welcome to my brain. It ain't funny inside here).

    And I think that this is exactly where this is going... For many reasons.

    @rutee07 let me know. Ill dig graves in exchange for vodka. we can drink to our youth and mortality.
  • 2
    I find this really suprising I used to work with a hospital union and they were super anal about privacy. Two factor authentication even for staff accounts and they had special phone lines etc for calla about health matters etc

    @IntrusionCM I wish there was something I can do but I don't have much knowledge about these things. On Monday, I will talk to that security guy from work to see what he thinks about it. My other worry is the fact that Facebook is expanding their services all the time, there are some companies who already use it for hiring. Since they are notorious for selling data or just straight up leaking them because you know, "move fast and break things". Soon enough, people will just get their job applications rejected for some made up reasons and who knows what else? Ads for your anxiety disorder? Some new form of manipulation?

    I just hate where all of this is going. Facebook already has too much information and these people are helping them by making messenger the only option to send these files.

    @Wisecrack I'm taking a trip to the winery. We'll bathe in vodka.
  • 2
    @bonegarden First of all, I saw "anal" and "bone garden" and being the creature that I am, I absolutely have to acknowledge that.

    Second, that's the infuriating part of it. I worked with industries from insurance, power and utilities, and airline. Those don't even hold as much sensitive data as hospitals do but still, security is a big deal and you get bonked for the littlest mistakes then here are our government and hospitals pushing us to send these data over fucking Facebook because "it's convenient" and "everyone has Facebook".
  • 1
    @rutee07 Where are you from again? I need to add a country to my no-travel-list.
  • 1
    @rutee07 where you from dude? I am from Canada - cant speak for all the provinces but in mine and the neighbouring province the healthcare sector is usually handled by regional unions and there's no fucking waaay they would utilize Facebook. Thats wild. *anal anal anal* :3
  • 1
    @saucyatom Philippines. Don't come here, ever, unless.. maybe go to the white sand beach islands. Those are the only reasons I'll probably go back here if I move somewhere else because of this lunacy.
  • 1
    @bonegarden This is torture!
  • 1
    @rutee07 oooo I would love to visit there bahahaha beeeeaaaches *drool*
  • 1
    @rutee07 oh, I see. It is already on the list though, with a mark "→ president".
  • 1
    @rutee07 we sent the team because we knew you'd want some entertainment.
  • 2
    I overheard a conversation between two teens. One of them said that FB is like a retirement home.
    Regarding hospital's use of fb... wtf?!
    I'd sue them. No public institution should be allowed to use fb. Not even for marketing.
  • 2
    In Russia if a clinic tries to do this, it’s basically doomed. But somehow they still manage to fuck up — they all make their own garbage apps for the sake of not using 3rd party messaging.

    @M3m35terJ05h Maybe not literally selling but since Microsoft is integrated in world's biggest mass surveillance network/engine ever created, I'm sure the NSA has everything.
