Wearing neck ties wears me out.

I seriously don't see the point of IT department having to wear ties...

Do you actually have to wear one? I used to have to many decades ago and a suit 😀

ties are not absolutely necessary but good style and taste means a a lot, especially in our field where everyone tend to nerdy style. (sometimes I also prefer this but, smooth and trendy things are cool, including handlebars mustache 😁🤓 )

Ya we don't need ties. We just use cat5e to hang ourselves.

We have a semi-smart policy i.e. nice shirt and trousers. Friday is dress down, and if we need to do some messy work we can dress down for that day too. That works quite well for us.
