Guys ! Need some help !

I am a final year CS undergraduate;will graduate in 2017 . I have been working with a team of freelancers developing websites and apps for the past couple of years. The thing is our client base is very small and the income is unstable because of our poor marketing and lack of good developers. Our team lead only doesn't maintain any version control,no code comments, sub standard code, and spends all the savings(we keep some money aside for expenses like meetings, traveling as a team etc) on movies, hangouts etc . I cannot tell it to his face but I have been looking to move out for sometime.

Should I continue freelancing by myself or apply in jobs ? And if I apply in jobs, do I apply as a fresher or a someone with a couple of years of experience ?

And if I continue as a freelancer, where do I start ? I checked upwork and freelancer.com but they have some cut-throat competition out there .

Freelancing can take time to build a client base, getting a salary type job will at least give you a regular income and if you're lucky expose you to a far better working environment.
Advice is hard to give, part of me wants to say "go for it!" Regarding freelance.
Personal experience: I got a regular salary job and as a sideline worked freelance in the evenings to build a customer base. There was no conflict of interest as my day job only worked for internal company clients - my evening freelance was for the public.
Took a few years, but it was worth it!
Yes, it's tough out there, but if you don't promise anything you know you can't deliver keep a professional attitude when dealing with clients you'll do well. Don't look for a quick buck, build your skills and network like crazy and it will all pay off!
Just remember to have fun as well.

As @feynman said, get a regular job first to understand the top level management hierarchy and how everything works in a company. This gives you a better understanding of everything. Then you can either open up a startup or continue freelancing.

You've already realized that a successful freelancer will need to do marketing. When you go out on your own you also have to worry about accounting, billing & collections, contracts, customer support, arranging coverage for emergencies and the occasional vacation, the list goes on and on. There's a lot of non-coding stuff to worry about if you don't work in a firm. Make sure you have the business knowledge and drive to do them before going solo as a freelancer.
