Would love to work in a startup again if it means i can escape corporate BS & "agile". But working in one doesn't pay me nearly enough to support me & my family

    Hello, working in startup here. Things are still excessively agile and we spend dumb amounts of time on it, however I do agree the amount of corporate bs is less.

    Work as a freelancer. No bulshit, decent money. You just can't be lazy as a freelancer. :P

    @Lexter Fuck no. Working remotely as a freelancer is roller coaster. One week you will have 90% of your time free because your client forgets to send you some specs. Another week you gonna work 16 hours a day because of arbitrary deadline. Also during the annual review contractors will always take the blame, even though they do the heavy lifting.

    @zemaitis It depends how you will organize your time and relationships with clients. Last time i worked 16 hours in day was 4 years ago. Now it is like 6-8 in day.

    Ymmv, but in 16 years of freelance/contractor working, I've never had a single day like the one described by @zemaitis

    @nibor Probably partially was my own fault because I wanted to please the client and was desperate for the money that period. But if it didnt happen to you it doesnt mean that this applies to everybody

    @zemaitis of course, hence ymmv

    Well, there are some startups paying some money.

    For example our senior back end dev is payed around 95k.
