Was office SharePoint bitch at one point. This guy wanted me to build a workflow for him that would enforce insane checks on his (peer) colleagues. Asked if his manager approved and obviously they hadn't. So this guy started telling me he would build his own application from scratch and host it on his home server if I didn't help him. Pointing out the business might object to their confidential data being put on his home server didn't put him off. Getting laid off a few months later for gross incompetence did however.

I feel your pain. Been working with it the last three years. SharePoint sucks most of the time.

Every time I see the word "SharePoint" I break out in a cold sweat. Brings back so many painful memories. One of the most bloated, resource-demanding, complex and unusable pieces of software ever sold. And the price of it, too!! I know the point of your rant wasn't actually SharePoint, but it just triggered me.

Be fair I have the same reaction. I naively recommended and implemented SharePoint for a small company in my previous job. I then made the mistake in my next job of mentioning it so was marked for life.
