What do y'all write to introduce your intentions in cover letters?

I'm so tired of pretending to be *passionate* about another laundry/recruitment/food delivery startup.

Can't I just say I like the number on the paycheque and snack bar?

Man I wish it worked that way but you need to have a very crappy cover letter pretending how amazingly passionate you are just to get a crappy job which you will be bitching about after a few months.

I just hate bullshitting about passion and being a team player. I say I want money, good tech and a team that uses good practices. I also want a short commute or a flexible schedule. Don't be honest if you really want the job. Blabber on about passion for their project. I hate the word passion, to me it means you are not in control of your actions.

@DevotedSniper Same. I have never written a cover letter in my life, and of a company wants me to write one, I sort of get wary because it gives me the feeling of a very corporatey, orthodox company, which doesn't work for me.

We usually do phone interviews first, then if we like how the conversation goes, bring them over to our office to have a casual meeting with the people they'd be potentially working with, and if everyone gives the go ahead, then start off with the actual technical interview.

The moment I read "please send us a cover letter" I close the window.
