If you compile from source anyways, Gentoo should be the Meta-Distribution of choice.

@Oktokolo i run gentoo on laptop but even im not dumb enough to run fucking gentoo on a freaking phone.

You run Arch on that phone. Gentoo should roughly be at the same ease-of-use level (approaching zero but still way higher than LFS). It only is more source-oriented.

@Oktokolo are you crazy tho ? I dont want gentoo on phone cause updates would be a pain. Arch is just better on phone cause of this reason. Building mesa already took 20 minutes. Imagine entire gentoo install or even single update.

"Btw I use arch on my phone"

You just need a beefier phone (or crosscompile on your workstation)...

@Oktokolo or you know. Just dont use gentoo on phone. Like i love it on my laptop. Its amazing. But on phone it doesnt make freaking sense. Also beafier phone lol. Sdm845 is decent enough i think. Cross compiling would work. But that would mean i would have to have my laptop connected to it via wifi or usb network for it to work with distcc which would be a pain. Seriously gentoo in a phone doesnt make sense. Sure it could be faster with it but realistically i would put arch on it and not gentoo. Dont get me wrong tho. Im gentoo user full way. But i know when gentoo doesnt make freaking sense.

Well Arch on the phone also makes no sense - but you are still doing it.

Going full Gentoo on it isn't even half a step further. And it would be a real piece of art then.

Would at least go evdev though - don't think, there is a painless solution for wireless with mdev...
