This is a warning 😡
A tale first...
I being the kind soul I am offered my help to another web company .. their site was built poorly and took 20 seconds to load I told them the fixes they needed in the hopes they would give me the work to do it that was the agreement after all 😡

Instead they stole my ideas and did them themselves now they have a good website 😡 fully working

Let me be clear if you fuck me over like this. I. Will. End. You.

I hate scum like this ... I'm calling him tomorrow I will give him the benefit of the doubt, if he says something like 🙄 well tough.

There won't be a website the next day... 😡

😈

    If you didn't sign anything then they don't owe you a damn thing. You willingly told them the fixes that needed applying, they didn't "steal" anything. Trying to get petty revenge is only going to solidify in their minds that it was a good idea not to hire you. Be mature and just let it be.
  • 6
    @alyx there was written emails saying they would pay.

    Would you do this to someone?

    It isn't petty. It the difference between right and wrong. If people don't understand the difference then they need to learn it. If needs be the hard way.

    @FitzSuperUser sorry it's a screwed up situation, that's why I don't tell my clients how to fix there site unless I either a. have a contract with half down. b. don't feel like dealing with them and hope that they do it themselves.
  • 3
    @FitzSuperUser I wasn't aware you had a written agreement in place.

    Sucks that they've shafted you, but I maintain that seeking revenge and threatening to take their site down is a grossly immature way of handling the situation.
  • 2
    @alyx maybe I'm immature personally I think of it as standing up for myself. If they have no consequences they'll do it again...

    It's just justice
  • 1
    @FitzSuperUser it's not only immature, it's criminal.
    You don't do yourself justice, neither by slashing someone's tires, neither by breaking someone's website (plus, I'd say it's mostly your fault).

    @willol you re what's wrong with the world 🙄

    If I promised you this car, on paper I said it would be yours if you detailed how to improve it. I let you clean it, do what you wanted with it improve it took your advice on board and then.

    Took the car away and told you to go fuck yourself you have no right to my car.

    Am I now the dickhead because this guy ripped me off , because I was willing to trust him to his word.

    No. He said that car is mine he wrote it down legally I did my side of the bargain... Where is my side.

    I will not win in a court of law it is not worth my efforts but the next guy he rips off could be tens of thousands of work.

    My conscious can't live with that. So I'm giving him a chance to own up to it. Then based on that I'll do what needs to be done.

    And quite frankly your opinion won't change my mind

    @FitzSuperUser well since you have your mind made up make sure you use protection(untraceable vpn, tor, i2p). and don't do anything directly pointing to yourself, plausible deniability is key if you go though with screwing them up
  • 2
    I hear you, dude. Once burned, twice shy. Here's to no more 'free' assessments.

    Why do you think they hired someone else to fix it?

    @jckimble I know what I'm doing don't worry I already have 50+ vpns done I've set up I select a root of 4 or 5 vpns across multiple countries and companies and it becomes impossible to trace unless you have a ridiculous amount of resources...

    @starless they are a web company I think they did it themselves.
    I'm pretty well versed in newer age web tech ... Webgl 3d html5 etc with a good understanding of how things work I came to my conclusion with what was wrong told him put the price next to it (not much at all)

    Then week later I check the site and he did the changes himself
  • 1
    @alyx agreed he shouldn't break the law obviously but if his account is accurate this company treated him like shit and possibly broke a contract and owe him for his work. He could name names so others aren't screwed, post on yelp, get COMPANYsucks.com, and warn other clients and customers of their business ethics and practices from the rooftops. Obviously he'd have to be telling the while truth to be protected but companies who screw over people should expect there will be consequences. Or they'll do it again and again.

    @FitzSuperUser it's absolutely legit that they have done it by themself.You just made an offer don't think you have sent them code, you just said you must do Y or X and I will do it for Z euros. right? Maybe you could charge them for your advice ... how much effort do you put in helping them?
  • 0
    @mak420 I must of spent 3 maybe 4 hours creating the list of changes. The agreement wasn't an offer it was more a if you can get me a list ill approve you to do them

    As if to say you'll have to work if I think it needs to be done
  • 1
    @FitzSuperUser invoice them for 4 hours of consulting work.
  • 1
    Dude, you have to do it Mr. Robot style, hahaha jk crap happens bro forget them and keep walking better opportunities are coming, and btw you should delete this rant so it can't be used as evidence (just in case)
  • 1
    @jpichardo naaa not bothered

    They wouldn't ever know it as me most people who say this never do anything
    and they can't convict someone just on the bases they said they wanted to do something

    If I said I did that that's something else
  • 1
    Just a general word of advice: if you're going to threaten to commit criminal acts, maybe don't do it on a public forum with a link to your own company on your profile page?
  • 0
    @alyx doesn't matter much really 😐

    You planning on calling the police on me 🤔 with what evidence that I said something whilst pissed off, theyd laugh at you...

    Now I could alienate potential clients on here...? True but not doing work for another dev company unless they are handing me the full project, and everyone on here is a dev. And I am giving them a chance to admit and apologise ...

    @alyx @jckimble @willol @starless @fattire @mak420 @Jase

    Well I have had a response from him today , so it could work itself out. He says he didn't and sent me an email with a work offer I said offer proof and we are good. (Doubt I'll be working for them though)

    I do appreciate your comments even if I totally disagree with them

    I get "lllegal is bad" but the law with computers in nearly all countries is to far out of date.

    What I find so ironic is that the law in so many instances needs consent to do thing having written agreement s etc but, your forced into accepting the law you never sign or agree I mean you can say you do by going into a country but what of the one your born in.
