dUcKtYpEd366535d@alexbrooklyn Im planning to be more front about it. THe moneys just fantastic and I get the impression everyones a little bored.
-
wackOverflow21235dWant to join my Minecraft server? Helps pass the time in between tasks and requests.
-
Devnergy614835d@dUcKtYpEd just do the grunt work. After work then you can do what you want like code in other tech stacks or something. At least you are growing. During free time in your work then study something.
-
dUcKtYpEd366535d@nebula I have been doing some personal side stuff here and there to keep the imaginative juices flowing
-
dUcKtYpEd366535d@Devnergy that’s pretty much been my prescription for the boredom. I’ve got a large family though so I really rely on my 8-5 to grow me as a developer
-
wackOverflow21235d@dUcKtYpEd nah, I was in the same boat as you once till I starting playing Minecraft. If I’m waiting on someone to get back to me about work related stuff I’ll just hop on and mine till I get that notification.
-
dUcKtYpEd366535d@wackOverflow that’s funny as shit though cause I’m on Minecraft during most of our ongoing meetings. I’m not building breadboards with red stone or anything but I make a decent cabin lol
-
wackOverflow21235d@dUcKtYpEd damn I’ve never been so bold to play while on a meeting but I might give it a shot now 😂 I did try switching it up and played the forest while working but that’s a tough one to put down once the work bell rings
-
dUcKtYpEd366535d@wackOverflow ya my MacBook won’t support the forest lol. The java edition yeah. I’ve got a litttle python package that plays a simplified grid too from like 50 lines of code

Oktokolo173935dYou should feel lucky. I never experienced underutilization in my IT life even once. There is always so much to do, so much to automate, improve, refactor...
I know someone working as a welder. He is idling around for days or even weeks while waiting for new tasks to do sometimes.
But that is just never happening in IT.
Also coding is so mentally taxing - i would actually love to be underutilized and therefore able to do some coding for game mods as a hobby too. -
wackOverflow21235d@dUcKtYpEd really? I’m running it on a 2018 mbp no problem. Give me that mojang username and I’ll send an invite
Cant believe I'm saying this but id rather be fired then to be kept around and slowly given tasks here and there that maximize maybe 10% of the potential im use to putting in. No im not a senior architect nor am I in the grey haired, smooth-sayer club but I am accustomed to green-fielding applications and sitting around looking at logs for potential issues is not where I can continue to grow.
