The one use case for the touch bar that would be actually useful. Displaying Vim shortcuts. But no, Apple gives you useless autocomplete suggestions and other shit instead.
Give a fuck about your feature and add some function to free software yourself and it would be praised as the Vim beginner's machine.

    Been there. Exactly there, actually.

This is why I remapped caps lock to escape on my macs.

I traded my esc-less Mac work lappy for a newer one with a physical escape key.

Instant improvement in quality of life.

And that kids is why we buy actual laptops that we can work with

I'm confused about what to hate the most, the use of a mac or the use of vim 🤔

This is exact reason why I was sceptical towards those touchbars instead of f keys ever since apple decided to introduce them..

F-keys are so misaligned. Just seeing it makes me violent!

@Root I traded my Macbook for a Dell XPS... then threw that out of a window and now use a desktop PC.

Now I just write code in one place, behind my desk at home, with a comfortable monitor/keyboard/mouse/chair setup. I plan to continue this even post-pandemic -- When I visit the office, I'll just bring a notebook and a pencil so I can sketch some pictures of large veiny dicks during meetings.

People are too obsessed with mobility anyway.

That takes the whole VI emprisionment meme to the next level.

But ask yourself: "Why am i using a castrated product when there are so many well-working and cheaper non-castrated versions on the market?"

Just bind Caps to Esc. It is also better for your pinkies.

@nibor hating both sounds good 😉

why are you guys using those garbage machines? Just hit a freak pc and put some nice distro on it.

Sometimes people are meant to stay at place for eternity 😂😂

@p100sch no it's not; no touchbar = actual escape key.

Most vimmers map caps-lock to esc. It's a neat trick.

@hjk101 Also, ctrl-[ literally sends the esc character to vi/vim, while ctrl-c is also a default "leave insert/replace mode" hotkey.

@bittersweet good to know! I might get a mac soon but I use a lot of shortcuts/hotkeys. It's going to be hell

    CTRL + [

@bittersweet yeahhhhhh nope, nope, nope, dude I can't even mouse
