I really don't like the approach that the elementary OS developers took to their system. A closed system like that is antithetical to the whole concept of building on an established base... Which is what they're bloody well doing in the first place!

But the MacOS feel? How could anyone ever experience true enlightenment without being forced to suffer another person's vision of UX and not being able to change a goddamned thing about it?

Please explain me the closed part?

They opted to remove a lot of functionality without allowing configurability. Furthermore, Loki disallows external sources, making it somewhat difficult to mould eOS to ones requirements. Whilst I do appreciate that they are attempting to create something for people new to Linux, their current methodology doesn't fit very well into the Linux ecosystem, in my opinion. Especially when they are working from a base that is designed to be fairly open. Its a little frustrating, because I like the look and feel of eOS, but I'm not alone by a long shot in my sentiment.
