FEAR OF DATA LOSS
Resolution => backupS

1: external drive (or NAS)
2: cloud storage (maybe multiple services)
3: git repositories

After all these backups you are kind of demigod of data recovery...

    SSD of course

    @jstaiyo Dude what are you backing up?
    It is to intense, I am getting stressed... I prefer simple backup, like when software is enabled when computer is idle (e.g. while sleeping) and then perform the backup operation.

    Seriously what are you backing up with all these resources?

    I don't have any Raid10 array, just saying there's no need to backup when you have one of those (because of availability, reliability and performance)

    Raid is simple because when using mirroring, if some drive gets melted or something, you can change it without data loss
    And, the more drives you have, the harder it gets to have a data loss

    @jstaiyo
    - Online storage takes time to recover (waste of time) and consumes network resources which could be given elsewhere. So recovery from online storage is the last resort.

    - With local resources there are extreme situations that you cannot be secure, such as destruction of building (by fire or earthquake) so the backup device is also destroyed with the original device and possibility of theft (even though I doubt a burglar would know what that nas device is).

    Obviously these stuff are for paranoid people or for people with extremely valuable data.

    We have an order from risk management that our two data centers have to be more than 10 km apart from each other. Sadly they are only 7.8km between them.😒

    But here's the real question: when's the last time you tested your backup and did a restore just to test the process?

    @theofanis Well i have Raidz1 array, clones with btsoot to another NAS, then onto HDDs which are placed elsewhere as offsite backups. Oh, and encrypted cloud backup aswell.
