This is proof that no matter how much you insist (as the author, like the author of Gif) people will pronounce things as they like. And yes, the author of Gif is wrong, it's pronounced with a hard "g".

xalez19378yit can't be jit, it's already taken by JIT (just-in-time) .. so primary key violation ..

fattire1808y@Neotelos naw, its been pronounced "jif" since 1987. http://www.olsenhome.com/gif/ It was embedded in a original sample compushow gif as on-graphic text. Perfectly clear and consistent. It never was a hard g, and you've had 30 years to get used to it. Don't be a jit.

@Charmgoggles I recently decided to pronounce the letters one by one ( "djee eye eff")

smamir28yGithub came from Git which is an English word with specific meaning. It's pronounced with a hard-g. I've never heard of this dilemma!

adracea8928y@jakobev the 'g' is hard most of the times , don't necessarily have to check the 'site' :))
