So I have a question.

How do you freelancers keep motivated? I'm a web developer and that's all I do. However i made a mistake of dedicating myself a little too much.

I moved to a new country and started with all these new projects that started becoming successful however when I started making friends in Uni and out , those friends were less of friends and I treated them more like workmates who I can share projects with and work on new orojects. Because of this, my career overtook me to the extent that that was all I ever worked on. Literally.

It was only recently that I realized that I have been missing out too much. I miss having a life and being with friends. recently I lost my creativity and productivity. Gave up on an insanely huge project because I have not been able to work on it. Lost a job because Im not productive. My life has started falling apart and I don't know how to keep it controlled. I feel I can't bother my friends because we're not totally close and most are only friends on campus.

I don't know what to do where to start or how to be productive again.

Remember why you started frontend development in the first place.... We are humans.. no matter how much we have, we.always want more, we always want to change. ... Steve jobs before dying said that all the money that he made, he couldn't find peace as.he ditched his friends and love for it..... Well, what if steve never made apple and stayed happily with his friends and family? Guess what.... He would still complaint of not having enough money and would regret not starting a company.... What you are experiencing now is a state of extreme burnout.... Dont worry. It will go away... Read motivational articles on tech... See new designs on dribble and try to imitate them... Start a new project just for the hell of it or to just see if you still got it... All the best.

Being a freelancer and a front end dev myself, I understand what you're going through. Just take a short break from everything and live your life. Maybe watch a movie or two. Binge watch some tv series. Play games or do whatever you love to do other than coding. Everything will be alright. You just need a break.

That's life, try to make time for friends at least once a week and make it 'not about work'. However life is made up of good and bad times, the good times we cherish and the bad times we most of the time learn from and forget. So start a new project and take your time and it will all fall back in place and remember as developers it comes part of the role to learn on the fly. Happy coding!

Do some stuff you want to try or like to do.
I was in a depression months ago, then I would just randomly decide to do something, like hiking or iceskating and would do that. It was great. Hell, if you have a bit of money, pack a bag go to the airport and buy any last minute ticket for cheap and go somewhere for a week.

Life is short and the world is big.
