When management hire consultants to tell them the same thing you're telling them. It's just more meaningful because they paid more for the information.

And given more importance too.

In my last organization I suggested we use json as payload (in 2014), the seniors pushed it down stating we will go with custom xml coz we have parsers etc to extract data from that sh*t, when in reality they didn't even want me to modify the xsd to define my own tags if xml approach was followed.

The VP of product engineering says we should use json and Rest APIs and everybody agrees without batting an eyelid. 😀
