Depending on how long your last update was ago, it can be a terminal dive on linux as well.

Last time I updated, it wanted to replace pulseaudio with pipewire and spat a lot of conflicts at me. Only recently got to do all the crap and migrating to Pipewire. It was worth it though. But resulted in me not updating my PC for 3 months. 😲 Maybe I should really read the update changelogs/news and do them more frequently.

Doing updates when you want is a double edged sword. I can understand that there are people that windows just has to force.
