I think niceties have a positive effect on the world overall and people who claimed they did nothing for them arent clearly seeing how fucked up they are.

Is this some "down with the kids" thing I'm not aware of, or are you talking about those small things that all add up to make a difference? If it's the latter then I'd agree, but most people I know also would - I don't think that's particularly controversial.

people today are too jumpy and it makes everything toxic and has for quite some time. bundles of increasingly neurotic tendencies which has resulted in a very sick generation.

but if your default behavior is polite or at least warm, that really does go around and makes a large difference in peoples lives even if they think they prefer being unhappy and angsty.
