I long for the day I get a job with an actual developer team, where I can do things like getting my code reviewed or pair programming or being forced to write better tests.

Working as the only developer (or a team of 2) sucks :(

I was in the same boat for about 3 years. Sucks not knowing if you are doing things the "right" way 😅

Sometimes it can be an advantage.

When there's no senior developer to pick up your slack, in certain cases it lets you learn more things on your own. Also a lot easier to bullshit management.

But for most cases it does suck.

I've spent years been the sole Android developer in a project or with only another Android dev on a mobile team in which nobody spent much time (toxic team lead... I guess I had thick skin so I stayed longer than others). Now I work in a development company where I'm assigned as remote "staff augmentation" contractor and there is five of us on the team, and also in the local office there are weekly meetings with the other Android devs from other projects to talk about what we learned and problems we faced. Big, huge change!

@rastapasta42, it's true that being the only dev without a senior to lean on makes you learn a lot. But having peers to talk about what you found out is even better.
