@YouAllSuck Vanilla gnome? The one where windows don't even have a minimise button? Or heavily modified like in Manjaro that will break upon every update?
-
@Fast-Nop gnome 3. The neato elasticky gnome that lets me view all my windows at once and move them easily to virtual desktops and type in the searchy field for things I want to find
I tell you the only thing I hate about gnome is having to create desktop files manually -
@Fast-Nop it’s just so fluid and wonderful now that the memory leak has been fixed 20 times over
-
@Fast-Nop but then I don’t develop native gtk apps in c as I believe gtk to be an abomination having been a winforms developer and glade is a piece of shit
-
@YouAllSuck Ah yeah that's another piece of Gnome 3 insanity: develop an desktop for touch interfaces, and then make it keyboard heavy.
I'm using Cinnamon. Forked from Gnome when Clem had enough of Gnome's antics. -
@Fast-Nop funny thing is I never once used a touch display lol I think touch displays are also an abomination unless it’s on a kiosk
-
@YouAllSuck Of course touch interfaces suck. The ergonomics on anything but smartphones and tablets are against it.
Desktops with touch in particular are only for nazis because they are trained in holding up their right arm all the time.
Also, monitors where people sausage finger over look hideous.
Manjaro is also available with Cinnamon (community edition), and Debian as well. -
@Fast-Nop thanks for cheering me up as the end approaches and I look forward to having another x number of my years and efforts wasted by said nazi scum who won’t even explain why the fuck they’re allowed to just chase me through the same loop and take advantage of the trauma induced amnesia problem that was put in my brain years ago when if I had a reason to be happily and have hope to move on with life I wouldn’t be able to forget nor would I want to
-
Now the idea that doing the same thing for a few months or a year just to be left alone and keep living as we always did after being screwed for years at a time for no valid or stated reason whatsoever
I’ll kill the man who tries to drag me back to the beginning
We live from now
Not years ago
Not when the world seemed sane but was being gnawed at steadily by nidhogg
Not from a day ago
No we have to live and progress from now and the filth that would cage us for NOT doing awful things like they do need to have their heads paraded around on sticks after being beaten to death by a 1000 angry fists of the serfs they oppressed -
Use whatever desktop you like , it's personal preference
but I think it's hard to deny how shitty the gnome devs treat their libraries
They don't seem to have the any concern for people using them, besides themselves. -
It’s especially a waste for me
I thrive off even mediocre creations that I eventually build off of
My raw ideas have been continually suspended just so I can work for money for shit they quietly delete and I have to rewrite from an earlier stage of development and knowledge
Just so they can drag me one place and return me to another to warp my mind into wanting to embrace forgetting so they can cage themselves constantly -
Hell I can’t even fuck the pain away because that freaks me out and makes me think the fuckee is going to be fed a child’s soul once I’m gone !
I have no tools to break free
I have no tools to progress because doing so would make feel worse than I do now ! -
@LotsOfCaffeine I guess the Gnome devs wanted to set a shining example of... circle jerk.

hjk10156963yI love gnome too. Don't think that I use any plugins. Just default installation of arch. Never had problems with minifying...
I thought that themes for gnome where fine but "themes" for gtk was the issue because they can mess with the layout and do other weird stuff that lead to bug reports to app makers.

scor33103yJust look at the raging distorted child we have to bear.
Get some professional help! Though it might be too late already. But do it!
On the matter, I understand that gnome paradox. -
@hjk101 You are using a modded version if you have window buttons for minimising. Vanilla Gnome doesn't have that because it also lacks a panel where you could minimise to.
The problem isn't GTK, as shown in Mate (GTK 2) and Cinnamon (GTK 3) which don't break themes and extensions when updating the DE. The problem is Gnome. -
Condor323323yHonestly I gave up on Gnome when they made Gnome 3. I really don't want a tablet's interface on a desktop machine, thank you very much. Instead I kept on using Mate, being pretty much Gnome 2. Some of their other software is good though, like Evolution. For mailing lists, multiple email aliases and GPG signing it works really well.

Papi16I'd like to share my awesome desktop :) How does look your desktop?
Hmmm... the GNOME paradox: make a desktop that is total shit without extensions and themes. Provide no stable API for them. Break them upon every release.
Top it off claiming that themes are bad anyway because if not all Gnome installations look alike, that hurts your "brand recognition". WTF?!

seriously?!
