It is, you have to know who you're praying to

Well, it makes sure you care about the subject...

It just explains why it's called "Linux", that's interesting but I guess that was a "gift question"

@kvsjxd God damn it, I was sure it was Bill Gates kappa

Write Steve Jobs or better yet Apple, since they think they invented everything anyway

Be a rebel. Write Richard Stallman. Lmao.

Whether you know that or not, is a measure of your interest in tech. I've met C++ programmers who didn't know who Stroustrup was, much to my surprise.

If a programmer or sys admin doesn't know who designed the main tool he's using, it's a sign that he doesn't know the principles behind it because he never bothered to read anything written by the designer.

Windows is a special case though, because Dave Cutler is an invisible, low profile guy and not a source of info about the OS.

@runfrodorun That's really cool. I will definitely have to do that soon.

@runfrodorun Definitely. Those are some interesting, indeed. I'm gonna have to rack my brain to come up with something really worthwhile. I feel like this is my chance to talk to the guru at the top of the mountain.

    Dennis Ritchie, albeit indirectly.

@w0ble I almost wrote him instead of Stallman.

No I meant in my original post. Yeah sadly he passed away. Sorry for the confusion.
