How did Google become such a piece of shit of a company?
Every google product is just broken and annoying as fuck!
YouTube, Gmail, Google Drive, they are driving me insane!
Oh and Android. Don’t forget about Android. But Android is probably still ok compared to their other shit.

    Google Search is ok too

How? By getting either an insane lead or monopoly in all those areas, letting them fuck up everything without consequences. It's impossible to compete against things like Chrome or YouTube because you'd have to be as huge as Google in the first place.

Don't forget dropping Picasa and 'replacing' it with the POS Google Photos.

At MSBuild a few years ago there was a google dev (he was some kind of contractor for them) and I joked.

Me: "When you get chance, open source Picasa or just start selling the darn thing. My wife would appreciate it and I *do not* care how much it is. You have no idea."

Dev: "Ha ha, Google Photos is way better."

I swear *all* the other devs stared at him as if to say "WTF did you just say?!!"

Dev2: "OMG, Picasa was awesome. My wife could use it without bothering me every 20 minutes. I'd pay just about anything to get that back."

Dev3: "Oh shit, you said it. My mom is always texting me with questions trying to use that piece of crap Photos. God I wish you guys could release something *I* didn't have to support."

    etc..etc.

@deadlyRants Yeah, exactly. We're not talking about something a startup can just roll out on a whim to compete, the infrastructure cost would bankrupt them before they started.

The only companies that can sensibly compete are the huge ones, and it's usually just way too much of a financial risk (even for them) to try to rival something that's already hugely established.

@johnmelodyme I’m not saying Google Search is better than DDG. I’m just saying that Google Search is ok and not as fucked up as Google’s other abominations.
