Someone keeping you awake? Or someone else awake? The latter is probably me. -
@atheist
Despite knowing that it is wrong, I am still doing that “wrong” thing after so many years. Because it is a familiar wrong, I know how I will get excited first, then will be demolished later.
The right thing to do is cutting ties completely. And I can do it only temporarily.
It feels like I am wired biologically to do the wrong thing. My neurons oppose to the idea to do the right thing permanently. The wrong thing is like a song that you know it by heart, can listen hundred times a day, can sing it with all the feelings you mapped it to, again and again.
The right thing, on the other hand is like shitty personal development book advice: get more sleep, be confident, set your shoulders straight up, always smile. Can’ t. Sorry. -
atheist99823yIf it helps, I seem to be wired to do the right thing, spend lots of time hating that I do, so that ain't any easier.

Problem is, the right thing has never brought me any happiness. But the song is beautiful, exciting… I might be fearing the right is not the end of my all problems. It might even bring up more “right” things to do. When you want to change your job, you have the drive to work or search jobs harder. New job, different challenges, even more exhausting. Then the cycle starts again.

atheist99823y@aviophile oh god you're right, doing right thing doesn't always bring happiness, not often even. Still, is right thing to do. Moral absolutism.

@dumbdev is that movie about a stupid guy who destroy an aspect of his life constantly, deterministically?
-
@dumbdev that is probably accurate but in this case, I put that spirit on my shoulder all the time.
