Co-worker: "Should we keep this server up and running?"
Me: "Hmmm…"
C: "Do we have any other uses for it than the dedicated wiki?"
M: "Not really, and maybe it's time to move to the centralised platform Corporate™ introduced. Have we checked if anyone is using the server?"
C: "Good point, let me see…"
C: "… oh it's been down for last two weeks since the power outage."
M: "I think that answers the question. Let's leave it like this for a month more and if no one complains we can announce it dead"

@swith (un)luckily that's not the case since people would just email/call/walk to our cubes.

On a side note, today was actually the day we told management that the server is dead and got an official stamp of approval for the migration plan.

Group message comes in at ~22:40: "Hi, can you do a preso tomorrow at noon"
Me: "I'm OoO in a funeral, 10 time zones away. That's a no"
**group text continues with planning for alternatives buzzing my phone until I leave the conversation**

Reasons like funerals, or any time off in general, are the reason why text or call should never be the first method of contact. We have calendars and emails with automatic OoO messages for exactly this reason.
