During the interview I was told that overtime will be paid. I'm working on a project which requires a lot of overtime so we can meet deadline. I was told that there is no budget for overtime.

I have also done 50 hours of overtime so that means 50 hours of overtime will not be paid to me.

    Are you allowed to say "no" in your part of the world to overtime requests?

    Don't do overtime.
    Boss gave me a raise once and told me :
    'I give you this raise, but in return I expect you to work 30-60 minutes longer'...
    If I am in the middle of something, sure I stay 5-10 minutes longer. But doing overtime for free ? No way...

    @matt-jd @Crost Whether the contract matters depends on the market, labour laws and whether they have access to a lawyer (through a union or paying for it on their own)

    @lbfalvy and also whether you have the time, resources, and ability to do continue working under a boss you are literally taking legal action against

    @nibor Yes, it's my new job. Started 3 weeks ago. This week is my 4th week. I can say "No" to overtime but during normal 9 am - 5 pm I'll be micromanaged. Even for a 15 break I'm being questioned.

    @matt-jd In the contract there is no mention of overtime being paid. I guess they win here.

    @Crost I'm already planning my exit. This was my 4th week. I've joined recently.
