After hiring a guy to work on a project for the clients and after 3 months when the project was done i asked him how was his experience working on this project and to just tell me honestly cause i would like to learn from my mistakes if there are any and improve. In summary he replied that he enjoyed the project and is satisfied with the overall experience. I was happy to read that. Then i read that again and something clicked in my head. I realized that response was kind of "way too generic". So i copy pasted it into google and found a link "Answer project manager interview questions like a pro" and on that site was written an exact sentence he wrote

Experience has shown me that 9 times out of 10, this is the only acceptable response to give, no matter how much the project manager insists that they want a full, open and honest review

    What did you expect? :D
Give him an actual anonymous way to criticize, then you will find out the truth.
You can tell me „honestly“ never worked.

It is really difficult to find a people that cares about projects/quality/people that they worked with. Don’t worry and follow the game

You won’t get an honest opinion. Everyone does what they have to (mostly) and moves on. 0 fucks given to management. Anonymity only applies to large groups of people providing feedback but a one-on-one interaction will not net you valuable detail. There must be a level of trust built between you and the other which is only gained after years of interaction.
