Didn’t get on the Masters course I wanted to get on.

Ah well - guess I’ll just go buy a new car with the money

I think it's better to work for a bit first anyway if that's not the case already

@Crost beware. I had a promotion, marriage and half an pregnancy during my masters. Your life changes fast out if the bubble of academia.

@c3r38r170 as JsonBoa says there is risk of life getting in the way. I think having some expertise in how something specific looks in real life is very helpful in academia. However you have to balance JsonBoa's point too.

@Crost Yep! This is what I’m doing ATM but all my seniors have recommend I go for it cause it just means buckling down and really getting a feel for the underlying maths would help me out in the long term. I wonder if I should’ve applied to more than one place

@Burgundxyz bare in mind you can do that without a masters, nice to have a masters though.

@Crost Oh yeah for sure don’t get me wrong. my issue is just i’m struggling to balance my hobbies with my studies, after a 9-5, on top of the obligatory leetcode in the event i need to jump ship in case something goes awfully wrong. it’s doable, but probably by a stronger person than me
