Why do you ask “can you {do this/that}” when “no” is not an option? Why don’t dare dare to say “please {do this/that}”?

Yeah nah I’m still gonna say no. But fuck your hypocrisy too

    No is always an option, even if that means losing your job.

    @theabbie yeah i bet a lot of people love the threat of homelessness looming over their heads. it's disingenuous to say it's a choice when the alternative is painful

    In some cultures, directness is seen as rude. Maybe, what you experience is just polite speak (not to be confused with politically correct speak or newspeak).

    @Oktokolo Agreed with the cultural part. My directness has got me into so much trouble, people are so fucking soft these days.

    Sorry guys it’s not dev related. It’s when my wife ask me to go buy some chairs I don’t like and we don’t need. I said no. I already got into trouble.

    I mean, I deal with this shit at work already. Now I have to deal with the same shit at home. Really feel like no escape unless I kill myself

    @ctrl-alt-del Or just change wife.

    But maybe, just letting your wife her will on most rooms while you exclusively decide everything about your man cave works too. Doesn't have to be a workshop or home cinema - a home office should work too. That is how most men deal with the huge taste differences between the sexes when they don't happen to find one of the rare outlier women.
