@sariel I really thought that the reasons Facebook had to start all this metaverse bullshit were very clear. But to be honest, I think that most of people promoting that are either very nihilist or very cynical.

The problem is that "the metaverse" as a concept got all intertwined with the Crypto/NFT crowd, who will loudly and unflinchingly support anything that lets them shill their monopoly money and overpriced PNGs even when the market is crashing down around them.
