A normal person believes a kilobyte is 1000 bytes, a coder believes a kilometer is 1024 meters.

Kilobyte? About how many mp3s is that?

I hate when people call it 1000. When you convert on bing, Bing says it is 1000.

Imho it should be 1000 everywhere in order to be consistent with the SI system and avoid confusion. The term kibibyte (look it up) would have been much better to use. Probably a bit late to change that across all the worlds IT systems, but hey, I'm still hoping.
