Him: I am a software engineer.
Me: That is great, do you use specific technology?
Him: Multiple, but my basic is YouTube.
Me: Sorry, I didn't get it? You mean YouTube API?
Him: No need, I have a channel on YouTube... And podcast a lot about software engineering.
Me: So you don't write code anymore?
Him: I didn't, engineering is more than writing codes.
Me: Yes it is....

    @CSaratakij I really didn't ask.

    @busuu I will not try. :-D

    While I admit that that's not a great definition of a software engineer, knowing your code and doing podcasts about them could be effective

    I fell for the stack skills click bait and ended up buying 100 $ worth courses on JS Frameworks which I never followed up. Just hopeful it is lifetime free and somewhere before Frameworks become irrelevant I thought to catch up on those but after coming on devrant I learnt JS Frameworks change like stock prices and kaboomed myself for burning 100 $ to trash.

    Isn’t this what Microsoft has been doing all these years?

    It feels awkwardly hard to experience self stupidity and I, sirs feel like earned 100$ worth stupidity.

    @busuu
    I mean, shouldn’t we be blamed for this too. We’re the ones who know, so we should be the ones to teach those who don’t.

    If you can’t beat them, maybe you’re doing it wrong. Don’t join them.

    @busuu
    I can’t argue with that tho.

    I'm in computer engineering myself, and I've debated with a handful of teachers on the importance of programming and coding. I just hate their main argument: engineers mainly exercise managerial skills, hence the uselessness of learning to code fluently.
    >> How do you expect to create solutions without getting down to implementing one?!

    @elghali don't you relate?

    Totally, of course the managerial skills are essential but first they must get their hands dirty otherwise they'll be weak even as managers@zshulu
