So my mum is currently in the final stages of PhD in physiology and I warned her about WannaCry (she uses windows 10 laptop)
So now its my fucking fault and I have to copy all her 900GB files to my poor 1TB Linux laptop and she wouldn't even bother copying them to the family desktop (2TB) which no one uses and has no Internet access whatsoever. Like WTF!?!?!?!??!

Plot twist: it's all because of all those twisted creepy physco assholes such as myself that create these 'apps' to rob people and that me and those like me should burn in the deepest pit in hell.

All she had to do was ensure the latest security updates were applied. WannaCry didn't affect up-to-date Win 10 machines.

That's why Microsoft forces updates nowadays..

Irrelevant. The company is still quite awful, and nothing Gates does will make up for that. (Besides, he doesn't even run the company anymore, and hasn't for years).

I'd also like to point out that money acquired through underhanded means and then used for humanitarian causes was still obtained through underhanded means. Rather taints the causes, yeah?
