Unfortunately, it's how many companies inform employees of a layoff. Bring them in late Friday, and tell them they don't need to come back on Monday.

Ineffectual managers who have realised that organising meetings at awkward times enables them to look busy and effective to their superiors, without requiring them to actually do anything useful. I have worked for a number of these clowns over the years
