I've been using boomplayer for years now, and I only recently observed that its notification panel has controls for toggling repeat/shuffle/single state. With bated breath, I clicked on it, half expecting it not to budge. But, impressively, it did

It got me thinking about the devs who worked on it and how much their manager would've insisted the app cannot be released without this *crucial* feature, when in reality, it's fringe and 1% of their (in most cases <5k) user base will ever notice it or be bothered by its absence

Now, I'm not advocating for incomplete releases. I'm just saying it's unnecessarily pedantic for management/product owners to double-down over flimsy stuff

This sounds suspiciously like a native ad.

@Oktokolo perhaps, I should have anonymized it and just gone with "music player". I don't see any gain insodoing and didn't even think that far. It's unfortunate that someone would make such a weird accusation. If I was talking about search engines and mentioned Google, would that imply I'm under their payroll?

You can check my earlier rants for what I'm working on and my story, if you care that much about my affiliation to the app

@Nmeri17 I did check your earlier rants - that is why i bothered to write a comment instead of dovnvoting.

Well, in any sufficiently adopted app it'd be trivial to drive such decisions through a very base level of analytics.

If there are comparatively many instances of people opening the app to go hit shuffle, then that's a good indicator that you should add it to the notifications/shortcuts/whatever.
