Turning my 27" monitor vertically was the smartest thing I did all year.

There's so much space now that just using it makes me happy!

That only drawback is the 1080p horizontal resolution which is not enough for many sites to fit without zooming out.

I feel like I will soon persuade myself to buy a 4K monitor...

    I'd really like to try vertical monitor. More lines are a good thing and I don't need width for programming

    I did that. With a 32" 1440p screen. I felt lost. It's good though if you have a landscape screen beside it. For me it was the laptop but my desk was too small to accommodate both of them side by side.

    @mohammed @apisarenco I have a 32" 1080p screen in front of me and the vertical 27" right next to it.

    I am sitting high enough and since it's a secondary monitor there is no neck issue (yet at least).

    @juzles With Atom I get 85 lines and almost 100 columns with mini map and tree view open.
