I always hear people talk about how they want to get into programming and I used to feel that way too till I realized it's often not a want but rather a need. I got to have a problem that needs solving and that I need to learn programming to solve efficiently. That was quite an aha moment for me.

Wanting to get into programming is like wanting to get into sewing: Most people can literally just start with no investment but time. Whether you can become good at it is another thing - just like in any other area.

The problems to solve are plenty as soon as you are convinced that you can solve them.

Two of my exes wanted to go into programming this year but failed. One did a course of ten months but stopped half way. Other one was hires by a company with internal training and failed some tests. Both only did it to get money. I don't like such programmers anyway. One of them had a book "Javascript for kids" and it was awesome. But just didn't have the discipline for it. I've learned from the qbasic banana game when I was eight years old
