Roll into game development, preferably one with not so much crunch.

But i have yet to actually make my own game, the path behind me is filled with unfinished projects.

At least I'm a half decent backend developer.

    What did you try already? I had some fun with blender and threejs for my quest2. Was doable

    @retoor blender scares me. Am afraid of spending hours learning it and not be able to produce anything half decent.

    @soberGhost try this: https://youtu.be/jYXZYKRDj4g

    Amazing tutorial, no knowledge required

    @retoor ty, will check it out

    @retoor over the years I've dabbled with: blender, godot, unreal engine, unity even cryengine at some point.

    Don't think my toolbox is the issue, just coming up with something interesting and finishing it is not one of my strengths x3

    @soberGhost you didn't try it yet, else you would be like "Woooww"

    @dakkarant that's impressive. I don't know what to make either. What did you try to make?

    @retoor Not gonna lie I saved the vid but haven't tried it yet. I spent my weekend reading the Witcher ( the last wish) and reading rants.

    @dakkarant What do you mostly work on ? Environments, characters, product rendering ...?

    @retoor I tried making a low poly zombie/monster survival where i had the idea that every building was accessible and you could build your camp in with anything you could find.

    So i got about as far as that you could pick up anything and nail it to the walls, over doors and windows etc.

    Also wanted to make the city with a full working infrastructure, so if for example you wanted to take over the power plant, you could work it and give the whole city power, same with water, etc.

    Other ideas were like an RTS where the battlefield could be changed up during the fight, think like blowing up a dam and flooding an area.

    @soberGhost Making levels is always pretty fun, I made a few maps for Killing Floor 2 a few years ago. It sucks that modding games and custom multiplayer maps have died off in popularity so much :/ (otherwise i would have made a Battlefield 4 map set in the Warcraft universe x3)

    @dakkarant Sounds like fun.
    Isn't the modding community still active though? I've seen some interesting mods when they released Hogwarts Legacy

    @soberGhost sure, here and there, some like Bethesda properly embrace it.

    But its not as vivid it used to be.

    Not that im a fan of fortnite, but since Epic basically released mod tools for it, hopefully we might see it a bit more again in newer games.

    @dakkarant woah, big project. Why did you quit?

    @retoor I just lost interest in working on it, the downside of ADHD, you can start 100 projects with an explosive passion, but always run out of motivation about 1/3rd in and go on to the next one :P

    So now im trying a new project once again, also trying to keep it small in scope, something with a relaxed gameplay loop in a sci-fi desert setting.
