OK, so, @Demolishun seems gone. Big surprise. He spent a lot of time here like I do. He did not insinuate any signs of being done or unhappy. Adding the fact that he was a stable happy daddy with the daddest jokes often showing how well he knows the people here makes it so weird and unexpected.

Also weird, @Demolishun's deletion got captured in a hour or so (yesterday it was noticed already, but I was like, maybe he comes back) and still nobody noticed that @electrineer is gone for a few months now or so. Meh, he hated me anyway.

Some of you are aware what emails I send to companies to bash them very accurate to the bone and even emphasize them how dissapointed I am. I make it very personal. You fuckers wasted my time.

But, when someone does it well, I also say it. I've sent my second love email to codeium and they responded. But this time, it was AI and it was noted under the message that it was made with AI. OpenAI doesn't do that. So again, my respect raised for them.

I only use their auto complete feature while they offer a complete ide and stuff. But auto complete so well based on my own way of coding is just made in heaven. Codeium really affected my life in positive way. I mean, I really like to everything myself but not using their autocomplete would be even stupid imho.

I also really like that I'm in the top 0.01% users while using the free version 😂 But I'm just only interested in that 😂vibe coding is just not a thing at all yet, not in the neighborhood. Only if you have no vision regarding code style tbh. Won't not even call theirs bad, but it's just not mine.

They could train them selves endless on information without really understanding it and will just repeat. OK, quite dramatic, but I was considering writing another regex interpreter. It makes the warrior in your awake. Never fuck with people who wrote one.

Also a tip for people ever considering one. Define for yourself what regex is and how it actually works up front and mark your project done when that is achieved. Just making 'an' regex interpreter is not not a solid plan.

I am watching a video about one of the biggest media agencies of NL and the use of AI.

Well, I see a problem of AI that it never does exactly what you want. Very easy if you do not have really a picture in your head of what you want.

But then again: how close is something a human creates to the picture in your mind normally?

On top of that, if you don't like it, AI generates again. But a human will take some days or so.

So, who will be the more comfortable designer to work with?

I have no idea, I never instructed a designer.

I have as truck to open any bottle to be fast. But recently I was at a science museum. They had a big rock on a stick that you could turn around. They said, you can turn it with one finger. Just push slowly and long enough. And it worked, all heavy things are easy to lift by keeping to push with some patience. I do it with bottles right now and with using little power and just some patience *plop*.

It blew my mind.

I'm so tired. I live in a park and can't receive packages, post people refuse to enter the park. That's fine, you pay 8,50 extra for a delivery location (supermarket, gass station, read shop). Also fine. But they keep sending it to my home address resulting everytime to "not home, deliver tomorrow" and then they send it to a delivery location two times further than what I've asked for. There we go, openai created exactly my vibe coding tool `R`. You'll see this will be booming. The cli is convincing as F. But nobody was interested in a CLI tool. Mine also manages files and updates existing projects as well by filtering on any source type. It has 20 functions to communicate with your system. Mine also supports Claude and it's blazing openai away, but Claude has some token limits if you do it a lot. Also Grok and Ollama (so a bunch).

Anyway, I was first fuckers.

What positive support stories do you guys have?

I have two:

One, is from myself. I lost the power cable to my XPS 15 (the fancy one, 4k touch) and had a knock off replacement battery that got in flames. I called support that I can't find original adapter anywhere for my XPS and told also that I lost the original one. They just sent me a new one for free! Would it have to do since it was such fancy laptop?

Other one was from a friend, together we tried to install Linux on an iPod (such classing one with 80gb I guess) and that thing did nothing anymore in exception of showing a penguin and turn off again. Anyway, he went to the store and got it replaced for free!

Worst support: OpenAI. It has automated service pretending to be human that emphatizes with you. It defines your problem in it's own words (pretending to have listened) and says things like "Oh, that sounds bad if x y z", And that's all. I wrote several emails so I know they're fake as f. Always that empathy email. They're evil. The amount of things that don't work at OpenAI is too damn high!

Pine cone: I told them about their weird billing practices, got nothing back. I still often e-mail them. But I do not think they spend time on a lost customer.

Today with my dad at AI expo, and it was the best person to go with. He has learnt reinforcement learning and ocr. Never enjoyed a museum together that much. There were also steam engines and minecraft carts and elevator.

Technology is so fucked sometimes. Often I wish that we've stopped at the Tamagotchi. It also didn't have audio jack, usb and took ages on it's battery. Communicated more clear that GPT.

Uses of the API can just use their default api clients! For security people can only call chat completions api on the shared resources. Content gets validated before forwarded to your Ollama instance if you're a host.

Afaik - real vibe coding is just not possible. Those people who say they generated games with vibe coding are actually just programmers tweaking a lot.

I have to say, there is quite some to learn about vibe coding (using my own tool) but to call it really a skill... It's stuff that is learned very fast. So especially asking for vibe coding experience is just idiotic.

I'm programming snek in snek. It offers now linux to every user. It's capped at 0.5 core and 512mb. It works fine. They new storage works great, that's how i could make this possible. With all this containers running (four at the moment) the server has a load of 0.17. Only doing git repositories in the container goes a bit slow because it goes over the network using sshfs. System seems stable. It's just cool to have a linux terminal in your web app. We can run snekbots in snek itself now! Develop and manage it in snek! I don't have picked a target audience yet for snek, but i think it's devs.

s3 storage sucks. Requires you to implement special stuff in software. The s3fs is a terrible thing not supporting many native file operations. For example, i can't cp * /to-target. It can't do nothing.

So, that was a short adventure. Now i found: https://interserver.net/r/1035270/ (affiliate link, why not). 3,- 1tb storage WITH complete vps. 1gb / 1 core but it does great as sshfs drive. It works so fast, i gonna host complete projects on it like https://devrant.molodetz.nl. sshfs drives really have the comfort of a native drive. Boarded just uploaded 600Mb to snek in two minutes. That movie was completely streamable in the snek web interface, you could comfortably click trough the video.

So, time to make a custom script to push all data from s3bucket (blegh!) to this beautiful drive.

I batched 150mb of textual data to extract data from as prompts to OpenAI to analyse the data and give me facts about it back to me in json format. To give you an idea about how much 150Mb in text is, the first Harry Potter book is 429Kb.

One day, all down voted posts will be upvoted at once (now they do slowly upvoting the downvoted rants) and devRant will have a spam problem what it can't recover from. More will be spam than not. Thankfully, every comment my bots make is a tag. Based on that, we can filter very accurate on the spam and delete it all when it happens. They smart, but we're smarter. All spam is tagged.

While it's a bit hyped and not that convenient yet, I actually vibe coded two applications in Rust / C# using my own vibe coding tool. My vibe coding tool is very convenient since it's a terminal app you can talk to that will read, write and execute on winning systems (Linux). You don't have to copy or paste source code as with other vibe coders.

It's written in C because I'm crazy.

Since it's written in C it's maybe not convenient as educational resource but it does contain all information you need to let AI control your pc / filesystem and instruction following.

There's also a python module of that software. You can do rpylib.chat("user", "prompt") with it and it'll be a session. I prompted yesterday 150(!!!!)mb with it by batching using python.

The r project supports context (instruction file) that makes it a real local agent. If you're creative, sky is the limit with this tool. I use it all the time. I copied to /usr/local/bin and if I need gpt, I just type r(f) in my terminal or directoy "r [the prompt no quotes needed]". Last example exits the application after result of prompt. If you say "Hey, grade the quality of my script.py from 1-10" it will do that. The options are endless. Ultimate automation tool.
