It's a fake from an "Artist", it's not a real autonomous car, just one that he is thinking of how it should work:

    https://creators.vice.com/en_au/...

"I don't actually have a self-driving car, unfortunately—I don't think any have made it to Greece yet, plus the cost issue—but I do have a pretty good understanding of how the things work, having been researching them for a while. And the one in the picture is a research vehicle for building my own. As usual, I've got totally carried away in the research, and ended up writing a bunch of my own software, rigging up cameras and building neural networks to reproduce some of the more interesting currents in the field. Like the trap, I wouldn't entirely trust what I've built, but the principles are sound."

@ddephor Thanks for that! Some very interesting info

This made my day and then ruined it with the fact it's not real!
Fucking with AI will become my favourite past time soon for sure!

@badcopnodonuts I was also bummed finding out is not real but the theory is sound. It's actually a really good question - if self driving cars obey road markings, then what stops say a pissed off taxi or kid from making thier own or diverting your route to a bunch of cardboard sheets covering a ditch. That made up for it.

@kurtr If autonomous cars would be that dumb, nobody would buy them.
It's just some (or most?) humans with their mostly limited intellect, thinking "I am so smart, I know better than thousands of experts with hundreds of years of experience".

Autonomous cars have so many sensors, that it will not be that easy to outwit them with such things like salt circles and cardboard.
And everything else is just programming them to the right thing at every moment (which is the hard part of the development)
