Agile is a set of guidelines not rules and you (your organisation) should pick and choose the aspects of agile that suit the business need.

At least it's not scrum...

Me: "Hey, I need to get this done today"

Scrum master: "is it in the sprint?"

Me: "no... I was asked today"

Scrum Master: "then you can't do it today, you shouldn't change the scope of the sprint"
