I never understand why people hate on systemd. It's a service system that handles some things automatically. It runs SysV services as well, so it's got plenty of compatibility. A lot of people typically say their issue is "well it handles X and Y and Z on its own and it shouldn't do that!" in which case... just turn those features off? they're usually not on by default, from my experience, and they can be useful in some situations.

One common criticism is that systemd is seen as "bloated" because it takes on many responsibilities beyond just managing services, such as handling logging, device management, and more.
