I fucking hate Apple products now.
iPhone 5s time was Apple's prime.
Now it's just a company living off the momentum of its old products.
iPhone X.. really ? the notch ?7
Current PM in the morning: "Startup flexibility! I'm at the beach chilling in the sun! I trust you can do standup without me! #tech-detox #positive-energy"
Current PM in the afternoon: "ARE ALL THE FUCKING TASKS FUCKING DONE YET? THERE ARE ONLY 9 DAYS LEFT IN THE FUCKING SPRINT! WHY HAS NOTHING BEEN DEPLOYED YET?"
This is why I hate wireless earbuds: You don't have a wire available for strangling coworkers.13
PM in daily: your turn. what have you done yesterday?
me: so i finished my PR for feature x and now i'm only waiting for review feedback there, so i can close this ticket today if no major rework is required-
PM: this is not what i asked, i don't want to know what you did, i want to know what was done.
me: uhh... okay, also i started working on task x
[note: task x, a task per definition involving a large amount of research, was very coarsly defined and it wasn't even clear to the PM what he exactly expects from me, and we agreed that the scope needs to be refined in the process],
so as a first step, i started doing some general investigations to get an overview of the topic and learn about concepts a and b-
PM: again, i don't want to know what you did, i want to know what was done.
me: okay well, i have DONE basic research on topic xy and collected information-
PM: this still does not answer my question, what's the deliverable?
me: ...so uhhh.... i read papers? i researched info online and collected and prepared information and links in a presentation which i'm also planning to present to the team-
PM: okay, can you please split your jira task in subtasks so everyone knows exactly what you're working on? otherwise we have no idea what you're doing.
for fuck's sake, shut up. just shut up21
> in da zone, headphones beating, caffeine rushing through my veins, snack-stack at 75%, code and commands flowing like campaign promises, I'm one with the keyboard... I can feel it ~(◉_◉)~
roomie: Hey J! J!
me: ಠ_ಠ I'm kinda busy, what do you want?
roomie: Dude don't forget to pick up bla bla bla
> Headphones back on, feeling the h4ckx0r fire resurge through my gut like a majestic phoenix (not to be confused with taco tuesday gut fire)
roomie: J...J! dude also make sure bla bla bla
me: ಠ╭╮ಠ I know, you don't need to be so specific with me.
> Headphones on...about to hit play again...
roomie: Dude do you happen to know bla bla bla
FUCK! just tell me everything at once so I can go back to ignoring you and the irrelevant world around me!
I hate when people do this.9
I fucking hate it when I'm working and people come and ask 'What are you doing ?' .. Even if they mean well ..
I'd be happy to show them and explain the hell out about finished product though .. !1
We had a mega rude, pompous asshat client come in who's company was SO disliked that someone made a hate site about them that was out ranking the client's actual site. They hired us to re-do their site and SEO to try to get back to the top results. We redid the site but we didn't improve the SEO. We also visited the hate site so many times we probably improved their ranking. 😂🖕🏻5
Reasons I hate the US
1. It's fucking 2 in the morning there and folks are checking their Slack when they wake up for pee breaks or done after their sex sessions.
Nearly 90% of the team is on and off checking Slack.
2. Culture fucks have only 10 holidays and hence they align rest of the world to their calendar and only give 10 holidays. India, Europe, and entire world can easily get 15 holidays per year outside their leave quota.
What a cluster fuck of a country it is.25
i hate this "She-EO" crap. they can call that feminism all they want, but all it does is set back women 40 years. yes, your red blazer is gonna break the glass ceiling honey 🙄15
So the new robot (Dingo) arrived yesterday. Today I did the unboxing, and damn was it disappointing. I realized the university purchased it not from the company I recommended, and they messed up the delivery.
The robot controller was missing, and the charging cable did not match the charging station input. Like dude, you had one job!
Since the lady in administration decided to disregard my recommendation and order from a random shop, she might as well assemble the robot herself....15
god i hate this company's product.
Visit merchant-facing sandbox -> 404. works after a refresh.
Log into sandbox with admin account -> redirects to a different signin url -> 500s -> signin no longer works.

How do I know? I've yet to write a single line of productive code today. I've spent the day purely as an administrative cog: writing emails, giving data to consultants, supporting juniors, and cleaning up the absolute hellscape that is also known as our Jira project.
I've become exactly what I hate.12
I fucking hate it when people completely ignore/forget something I say and then later say the same thing like they came up with it.13
I fucking hate it when developers don’t respect user locale. My phone language is UK English, my Discord app language is UK English and my region is UK.
Then why the fuck is Discord showing me MM/DD/YYYY date format? How hard is it to pass locale when parsing time?20
Today I saw a code written by my junior. Basically excel export. The laravel excel package provide great ways for optimization.
My junior instead did 6 times loop to modify the data before giving that data to the export package. We need to export around 50K users.
When I asking him why this ? He said it works and it's fast so what the issue ???
Noob , you have only 100 users in the database and production has 10 million.
Sometime I just want to kill him.15
On the presentation for my database project my team and I showed a NodeJS + Mongo + VueJS project with cloud storage capability, nothing fancy but did everything from scratch (from token auth and system encryption to the frontend CSS and the database) the teacher made some questions and meh'd at it.
Behold team two's project, WordPress with a standard template and phpMyAdmin, teacher loves it because "it's so beautiful"
Guess who just failed that class?
God I love college, it's the best time investment I've ever done and it'll surely pay out.11
Web products that disable text selection. I hate them, there are 0 reasons to do that, and still it's done.16
> Open private browsing on Firefox on my Debian laptop
> Find ML Google course and decided to start learning in advance (AI and ML are topics for next semester)
**Phone notifications: YouTube suggests Machine Learning recipes #1 from Google**
> Not even logged in on laptop
> Not even chrome
> Not even history enabled
> Not fucking even windows
The lack of privacy is fucking infuriating!

I now hate myself for bitting22
Why are there a million websites that scrap and republish stack overflow content? SEO induced page hits for fraudulent publicity?
Whatever the reason I hate them so much.7
i have just realized that the main source of my unhappiness and emotional imbalances is interacting with the world.
when at home, i am zen. i leave everything alone and everything leaves me alone, i am at peace, i am happy.
as soon as i get out and start being barraged by the everpresent dumbfuckery of the world, and on top of that my own dumbfuckery,... it becomes difficult to not hate existence.7
I hate corporate America devs that say “connect with you later today” like the fuck u think I am? A USB port?26
i hate non descriptive langs
oh you have a thingamabob python?
what it is?
an entire class with instructions on how to form a black hole?
guess i wont know until i dig around this code some more. thx9
Company: “we need you to engineer this for one of our clients because you’re an engineer and this is what we pay you for.”
Me: “sure no problem”
Company: “we also need you to do a cost benefit analysis, risk/reward analysis, gap analysis and swot analysis for market fit and business finance because we didn’t task anyone else with doing it and since we’re already paying you for this other thing you may as well do this too”
Me: (opens up resume.docx) “yeah I’ll uh…I’ll get right on that”2

Tl;Dr : I'm pissing the right people off and my God I like it
That's what I've known and have confirmed doing my current side project with my gf, we are working on a ratemyprofessors clone with extra spicy features, one in particular is so spicy some teachers will be put in a position in which they would rather grind hot peppers with their butt cheeks.
Don't get me wrong, there are good teachers (some of which actually showed support) but some are not good teachers and some aren't good people either; I've decided it's time to stop complaining and take action.
We recently released an alpha and I presented it to a teacher I had this semester (one of the "not so great" kind) as a DB proyect cuz fuck it I'm not doing 2 projects.
This teacher is your run of the mill "I'm lazy and I don't care" teacher and she ran the classroom like a shitty kindergarten, so much so, one of the teams was presenting a buggy admin site as their project and she started talking on the phone! Right up on their faces!!
My turn, I go up and handle her a 30 page printed thesis of my project and said that unlike my mates, I was going to start presenting the idea and then the actual software...why is it printed?, She said; Because I won't be projecting the PDF ma'am, I actually made a professional presentation and that way you can read more technical details while I give a broad overview...
I started talking about the huge issues students face and my research about it, undisciplined teachers, no class structure ~ abrupt interruption ~ "yeah I know like, you are giving so much statistics and numbahs but where is the database?"
I got pissed off because the whole purpose of printing and giving her the docs was for her to ask specific questions AT THE END! So I told her I was getting there and to ask questions at the end...I start showing off the system's sweetest features... everyone got quiet...a girl on the front row kept looking at the teacher and then back to the board with her eyes wide open, the teacher was visibly upset.
I asked someone to please help me by using the site being projected for everyone to see, he searched the teacher's name and it obviously popped up cuz I scrapped the whole teacher index site... some people gasp and others start murmuring.
She freaked and started arguing saying that frontend can't be just HTML and CSS, where did you mentioned x and y feature? admit it's just teacher evaluations! where did you get the teacher names? I want the scripts!....it went on even 10 minutes after class and the next class with a police like interrogation.
So yeah, something tells me I'm not getting an A, but I'm happy after all because that's the kind of reaction I want from those types of professors.
Worth it 😎8
I HATE THE OPEN OFFICE LAYOUT I HATE THE OPEN OFFICE LAYOUT I HATE THE OPEN OFFICE LAYOUT I HATE THE OPEN OFFICE LAYOUT8
One of the guys in my uni group project accused me of bullying, shutting him out of the group, ignoring him and taking over his work. He complained to head of year, I had to have a "discussion" with head of year, welfare tutor and my personal tutor.
For supporting evidence, I brought the message he'd posted in our team Facebook group where he told me to do the thing I was doing. The discussion didn't last long, but it seemed he was unhappy with me asking questions, mean things like "I need a draft api to do my work, why don't we sit down and design it instead of the UI you're working on?"
Conclusion? He "worked on a separate project". Got to the end of the year, the whole class went for pub drinks, someone else came up to me, had been through the exact same thing, exact same person, different group project.
Group projects teach you to hate people.5
In the Ruhr area (Germany) we have some very old, very strange words with strange meanings. One of those words is ‚Prutscher‘.
A Prutscher refers to a person who does things but never gets a good result, due to lack of knowledge or simple carelessness. Most of the time, Prutschers are people who are interested in certain subjects and often work in the related jobs, but who lack the motivation to properly train themselves, learn what there is to learn and to always keep up with their technologies .
Here are a few examples I've stumbled upon so far in my career:
- Developers in their 60's who read a book about PHP 25 years ago and decided to become a software developer. Since then haven't read anything about it. Who then now build huge spaghetti monoliths for large companies, in which they prefix every function, every variable and constant with their initials and, of course, use Hungarian notation.
- People who read half a fucking tutorial about <insert any fancy js framework here> and start blogging/tweeting about it
- Senior web developers who need to be told what the fuck CORS is and who can't even recognize CORS related errors in their browser console.
- Developers who are the only ones working on Windows in the team and ask their Linux colleagues for help when Windows starts bitchin.
- People who have been coding for 30 years, have worked with ~42 languages and don't know the difference between compiled and interpreted languages in the job interview.
- Chief developers at a large newsletter-publisher who think it's a good idea to build your own CMS (due to a lack of good existing ones, of course).
- Developers who have been writing PHP applications for multinational corporations for 25 years and cannot explain how PHP is executed. They don't even know what the fucking OPcache is, let alone fpm. FML
- People who call themselves professional developers but never ever heard of DRY, KISS, boy-scout rule, 12-Factor App, SOLID, Clean Code, Design Patterns, ...
- Senior developers wondering why the bash script won't run on their fucking Windows machine.
- Developers who consider Typescript to be a hindrance and see no value in it.
- Developers using ftp for deployments in 2022
- Developers who prefer to code without frameworks and libraries because they are only an unnecessary burden/overhead and you can quickly code everything up yourself.
- Developers who think configuring their server(s) manually is a good idea.
You fucking Prutscher. What you have already cost me in terms of work and nerves. I can't even put it into words how deeply I despise you. I have more respect for the chewing gum that has been stuck in my damn trash can for the past 3 years than I do for you guys. You are the disgrace of our profession. I will haunt you in your dreams and prefix every fucking synapse of your brain with MY initials.
As a well-known german band once sang in a very fitting song: I wouldn't even piss on you if you were on fire.
If you recognized yourself in one of the examples here: FUCK YOU!37
I visited my friend at his new house. He told me to make myself at home. So I threw him out. I hate having visitors.
I hate how disruptive meetings are, I was coding and now I don’t know what the fuck I was trying to do.9
Pandemic achievement: I slept early and woke up early too! Fuck yeah!
... Tho I did dream of an old-crush-who-I-hate-now and then of my friend breaking her leg, so I'm not sure, but hey, more hours in the day! 😁
Now, first going for food shopping and then I'm off to work.💃16
Damn I hate Apple… I have a macOS app written in SwiftUI which worked perfectly fine. And then Apple released MacOS Ventura, which broke the app to the point that it’s unusable. Release notes, obviously, doesn’t mention a thing that could give a slightest hint of what is causing the issues. And the worst part is that there’s no way to set up backwards compatibility, because stupid SwiftUI SceneBuilder doesn’t support damn conditional flows.16
Story time on my job hunt: Currently interviewing with Google during my notice period.
I always had a love hate relationship with Google. Unlike my hate towards Meta or Amazon, where I had a reason to hate them for how ill intended they are, I never had a valid reason to dislike or hate Google apart from the fact that they steal my data.
That's it. That's my only reason why I hate Google. But I fell in love with their products during my trip to Istanbul and how throughout my journey, Google products were there for me to solve all my needs.
As y'all know, I was treated badly during my Meta interview, last October. With Google, the experience is on another level.
People are fucking smart and ingenious, but at the same time very polite, humble, and respectful.
During my 3 interviews so far (2 more remaining), each one of them made me so comfortable that I was more anxious before the interview than during or after.
They supported me during each question they asked. They made me felt heard and focused on my strength, instead of the weaknesses (or trying to break me down unnecessarily).
The interview syllabus is so fucking vast, and recruiters know so much that they helped me not only with preparation material, but also guided me personally. Haven't seen such knowledgeable recruiters.
The questions were dynamic in nature and thankfully because of my preparation, I was able to answer them most.
Overall, the culture at Google seems brilliant and an environment where one can flourish. No wonder companies are trying to copy every aspect of how Google operates and no surprise that Google is doing well at scale.
I feel so high on emotions (positively), after these interviews that I wonder how would it be to work at Google with such phenomenal people and exceptional environment.7
Why does Scrum feel like micromanagement?
I seriously hate daily standup, ours go on for half an hour, sometimes longer and I have to listen to completely unrelated shit I don't know anything about. I cannot explain how disconnected I feel. I'm the only dev working on their website. Some days I don't even need to check in, I have nothing to say.26
after publishing a few apps, building some websites, developing some basic operating systems, participating in a summer learning program at google and having got a job managing the computer science department’s website, today i start my intro to computer science class.
god i hate python6
Twitter should be connected to a health tracking device so that users would only be able to reply to tweets as long as their pulse and blood pressure is still on a relaxed level. This could prevent dysfunctional "social" media "discussions" a lot.12
When you ask a short question(in Slack) to your teammate that can be simply answered in Slack and they start a video call immediately after reading your question...
Now you have to stop music/video, clean the background...1

The more I look into Windows 11 the more I hate it. There's just 1 (one) more thing that's wrong with it every time I look.
It's a security and ethical nightmare. I almost wish I didn't specialize in computer recovery & cybersecurity.
So thankful that my high-end gaming-built PC is apparently "not compatible" with Windows 11. Oh, you don't want to break my computer and ruin my entire life? That's actually a complement, man.17
I fucking hate Reddit
Because I don’t interact with other peoples post too much but do so when the post is mine, I’m considered spammer.
The 90/10 rule is ridiculous.
This morning I got banned from r/internetisbeautiful because of this stupid rule.
Not because my website is not beautiful, hell, it got thousands upvotes. But because I used the same domain for different unrelated projects, same way you can have different GitHub pages under one user.
Fuck this, fuck18
Interviewer: Yeah so we're hiring you as the person who would build out and own our client-facing web application and related stack.
Dev: Perfect, that's what I've been doing for the past 10 years, I'm your guy.
Interviewer: GREAT SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORK AND EXEC ON A PROCESS ON A LINUX MACHINE!?!?!?!?
Dev: I don't... know immediately at this moment?
Dev: I hate my life
Dev: Somebody please help me18
Love being contacted by a consultant.
Becuase they recently "migrated to gmail" (wtf does that even mean?!?! it was their reason why I didnt get their email)
I fucking hate zoomers, please kill me, i have made a mistake working with these clowns
Sweet lord jesus I fucking hate React! I hate whatever those idiots at facebook or whoever decided to change how everything works 15 fucking times in the span of 4 versions. For fuck sakes, the errors are shit. The documentation is shit, the answers to questions are useless!
I hate this fucking framework with a burning passion, I want nothing more than to shove the entirety of the populous that developed this garbage up zuckerburgs ass and then drown him in a vat of boiling piss and motor oil.
Hi, here's how things are working now:
– Me and MerryBandOfDumbasses1 are doing project 1.
– Me and MerryBandOfDumbasses2 are doing project 2.
– Me has project 3 for work with this adorable boss I'd hate to disappoint. (Anyone watching Brooklyn99? He's my Captain Holt)
– Me has to deal with thesis.
– Me is having trouble keeping her head above the water. (emotionally speaking)
Conclusion: Me is fucked.
*grins for the camera* 😀6

I'm afraid if I post any more rants about how much I'm hating this job search, someone might actually start planning for my murder.12
Why do employers lie during interviews!? Because they can get away with it?
This is my second job after graduating where the job was falsely advertised and misrepresented. I absolutely hate this, it hurts people's careers.10
I hate backendphobia! It feels like so common nowadays. People scare other people with backend being too hard and stuff, and that feeling of scariness is something that infects lot of people. Please stop fearing the backend!
Yes, some backend stuff can be hard, but there's no good reason to fear it. I just hate it when I go to a new team and they all seem to be backendphobics idiots. I've build enough backends to not give in to the fear, pls stop scaring people.12
DNS is everywhere.
I hate DNS.
I hate DNS migrations.
I hate having a hundred plus DNS names inside my brain.
I hate resolving issues.
I hate DNSSEC.
I hate CNAMES.
I hate services which cannot be persuaded to stop trying AAAA resolves first.
I hate the fucking stupid braindead idea to use TXT as a configuration store inside DNS... And thus the necessity to blow up DNS query size aka EDNS.
I really really really really really want to burn this whole mfucking shit down...7
fucking hate how some sites deliberately break their own scroll functionality if you haven't logged in/accepted gdpr nonsense/signed up for a newsletter.
It's such an easy fix (most of them just slap style="overflow:hidden;" to their <html> tag) but I still think it's very loathsome1
just saw a tweet praising a company because of their choice to use swiss servers and they had a pompous sentance in parenthesis like (upside to banking secret culture)
like, dude, at the end of the day, guaranteed their 'server' is just a linux box somewhere, just like anywhere else in the world just STFU
god i HATE ignorance, hype, and stupid tropes that managers just automatically subscribe to with their 2 brain cell NPC brain4
Half way through a 2 hour deployment, and a fucking test fails.
Yes, it takes 2+hours to run the tests.
Rerun in test environment: pass
Rerun in prod: pass
Rerun changed test in prod: fail..
Why, why you got to hate me for?
I love it when production is the place where config gets changed.5
I hate when installers have "British English" and "American English" listed
It should say "English" and "English (simplified)"13
I only created a fucking class, a FUCKING EMPTY CLASS
Cancel button does nothing, obviously.
After 30 seconds or so, everything is back to normal. This shit reminds me of the "good old days" with Eclipse.
I hated Eclipse back then, and I fucking hate VS now13
I FUCKING HATE VISUAL STUDIO BECAUSE IT LITERALLY THINKS I WANT TO UNDO SINCE I PRESSED THE MOTHER FUCKING BACKSPACE KEY
ITS NOT MY KEYBOARDS FAULT ITS LITERAALLY THEIR DUMBASSES NOT KNOWING HOW TO MAKE AN IDE ATA ALL

I hate my freelancer life.
1. No weekends
2. No particular time to close
3. Work for 12 to 14 hours without sleep sometimes
4. Keep explaining the dumb clients about how development is not wordpress.
Its all fucked up. I have no life.
My average Lines of code this month is around 700 LOC/day. Whereas the average that showed on internet is 100 LOC/day.
I have choosen a hellish life.11
I hate error suppression. I hate error suppression. I hate error suppression. I hate error suppression.1
I hate the growing trend in IT to be "diversity" or "embrace diversity." It's Orwellian because embracing diversity is a form of uniformity. None of these companies want diverse ideas; they want you to believe in a specific ideology.
I wrote a full article on this the other week:
For frigging fucking fucks sake, universe put the cactii away.
I HATE THE UNIVERSE.
I FUCKING HATE IT.6
It’s been so long since I posted but this time it’s juicy again.
I got a coworker, no prio experience but already a year and few months into the job. He’s bad.
Magnitudes of bad!
We’re trying to teach him but to no avail. Everything about him sucks, major ballsack to be exact.
His attitude is to avoid every task, finishes nothing and then starts something new.
„Did you do X like we told you to?“
„No I started on Y, because I thought it [looks better, seems more interesting, thought that X is useless…]“
When you ask him much is done he is always „almost“ finished and needs your help on the „last 5-10%“. Yeah fuck that!
But that guy has a talent, his talent is to always give you technically correct answers which actually are complete bullshit.
„What are you doing at your job?“
„Staring at a screen and typing things.“ dude what?
That guy used the excuse „I can’t do maths“ on everything.
For an exam he had to calculate how long it would take to reach a certain amount if you would get some interest in that every year.
He asked the teacher for the formula. During the exam! And when the teacher didn’t want to give it to him he wrote plainly „can’t do maths“ on the paper and left
His code is of a quality as if he would write his first line in a week and then has the audacity to blame me and the colleagues for not explaining it right.
Ok you might think now we’re teaching him bad, or are too impatient. But honestly if you have to explain how to do a for loop for over about 15 months and get that attitude I think you get the right to be angry. I don’t mind explaining on how things work, even for the hundredth time, but then don’t tell me you understood, go behind my back, complain at a colleague how bad I explained, get explained by him and then do it again until you whored yourself through the whole staff!
It’s like he got the mind swiper from Men in black at home. Every day he hits the reset button.
He had a week of just changing indentation on a html file. Why? Because he wanted to find his style.
Yeah his style
And to produce code like that it takes him atleast 4 hours of trial and error.
And at the same time he goes arround and boasts what a super good programmer he his and that he can do some project work for them.
How we found out? Because he started working in those projects during work time at the office and asked us how to do things.
And he does so like a complete bastard!
Broken sql query? “No that query is perfect as it is, it’s supposed to show no results! But, just in theory, if I wanted to show some results, what would I need to change?”
I’m so mad about it and pissed on a personal level because he goes around blames everyone and the world for his short comings7
Why the fuck does every operations app do popouts now? I don't want a simple view of the data, I want all the data so I can compare it together.
It's not like you're saving any bandwidth! All the data is there, I can fucking see it 👀 in the dev tools!
I hate how every product now desperately tries to be like their competitor and everyone fails at it because everyone is copying everyone else.7
Everyone in the gaming internet talking about how Microsoft's Activision Blizzard purchase will usher in a new age of improvements have never had to use teams.19
Fucking hate it when I'm tired as fuck but can't sleep because of mental restlessness.
... Like, when the fuck did the evolution come up with this shitshow? And why?5
I'm in such a mood to pick a fight with someone. not anyone, a specific someone, my boss. i want to ruin this person's day. i want him to fume like the little chihuahua he is, and if he wants to antagonize me at least he should do that right. come on, yap like the little shit you are. fucking hate this slippery, quiet bs, fucking us over and pretending to be civil3
Http/2 server push is really cool. Like, really fucking cool. Those researchers at google really got this right. I hate how they handle their users but I have to say they really make good use of the money they get by selling us for kettle.2
Got tickets to jbcnconf. Got all the flights in order. Got a place to stay.
And apparently someone decided to have a strike in the airlines on the day my connecting flight was supposed to happen. And ofc the flight got cancelled. And ofc there are no alternatives.
So now the whole ~1k€ conference deal will go down the gutter. FUCK!! I soooo wanted to visit Barcelona and attend that conf!!
P.S. I hate you, Ryanair8
i hate group assignments. why is this guy doing a class in accessibility if he's not gonna pay attention and not gonna make the code accessible? and the audacity to tell us that "we can fix the accessibility stuff afterwards". the accessibility is literally the assignment!!! you're not doing shit!!!4
who the fuck decided macos not showing the file path in finder etc is the default
also not having a home directory available by default in the side bar
i fucking hate you so much9
i hate how so many places change UI just because
google obviously. but other places too. gitlab just did and just...why? made something take more space by default but maybe less if you have a lot going on. ok sure. did you not have any actual changes so you just made UI changes? wtf is up with this? why do ppl feel the need to change meaningless or confusing crap between versions? if it aint broke mf1
Just wasted 2 hours of my life looking through my colleagues code because he decided to build it at the last moment, install it at customer, and then take the day off.
If he had just started the project he would have seen it crash.
I hate people who don't test their own shit2
New office saga continues... SE1E05
I transitioned from a B2B to B2C role. Now the company and the product is entirely consumer facing.
Many or rather all are actively engineering the product to be more and more dystopian in nature.
Using concepts like FoMo, social validations, and other techniques to get users to spend more into consumerism in the name of building better experience.
It's the darkest shit I have seen so far. And this company is ethically a great one. I can only imagine how pathetic Meta and others would be.
I hate ny role. I hate how I have to do this for a living. Knowingly or unknowingly, I got myself here and absolutely hate where we are headed as a human race.
I don't like it anymore and I am only doing it as a job. No longer proud or excited of my job profile.
Fuck the impact, technology will be a catalyst for human extinction.
And with that, I found a good solution to my Mac 😏
Do check: https://reddit.com/r/Unexpected/...7
I HATE PHP.
I hate it with all my guts.
It's weirdly cobbled together, nothing fits for anything, it's a NON PROFESSIONAL TOOL. AT. ALL. PLEASE STOP DOIN' STUFF WITH IT AND REWRITE YOUR STACK IN COBOL/BRAINF**K.
I HATE IT.13
I really hate sales people. My stakeholder wants to buy an address verification service but is hesitant to purchase now because the dev time needed would be substantial. Now the sales rep has planted seeds of doubt in my SH and SH thinks I grossly overestimated the labor I quoted.
Sales rep is all “major corporations have installed this in a weekend.” 🤬🤬🤬 Major corporations also have more than one developer and probably aren’t dealing with a website that has a dozen address forms that all work differently. Oh, and I DON’T WORK WEEKENDS MOFO.
My SH originally requested a labor estimate for installing the AVS on all address forms and that’s what I delivered. My audit revealed a dozen different forms. I’m working with a legacy code base that’s been bandaged together and maintained by an outside dev agency. The only thing the forms have in common is reusable address fields. They all work differently when it comes to validating and submitting data to the server and they all submit to different api endpoints. At least a quarter of those forms are broken and would need to be fixed (these are mostly admin-facing). I also had to provide an estimate on frontend implementation when I have no idea what they want the FE to look like.
My estimate was 5-8 weeks for implementation AND testing. I wrote up my findings and clearly explained the labor required, why it was needed, and the time needed. All was fine until the sales rep tried to get into SH’s head.
My SH is now asking for a new estimate and hoping for 1-2 weeks of labor, which is what will SH to buy the AVS. Then go to the outside dev agency you used to work with and ask for a second opinion. I’m sure they’d also tell you at least month if not more for testing, implementation, and deployment because you have a DOZEN FORMS you want to add this to. 1-2 weeks is only possible for a single form.
My manager doesn’t work in the same coding language I do, but he read my documentation and supports my original estimate.
I honestly want to ask my SH if this sales rep is giving a very good price for the AVS. If not, are there other companies in the mix? Because right now you have a sales rep that’s taking you for a ride and trying to pressure you all so he can get another notch in his belt for getting another “major corporation” as his account. I don’t think it’s a good idea to be locked in with a grimy sales rep.3
Being lazy taught me more about (code) automation that years of study ever did.
“Ugh! Updating translations is boring, why do I have to do this manually?”
“Damn I really hate having to remember endpoints”
“Oh, come on! Its the third time I initialise this the same way!”
I’d love to say this is a motivational speech or something but no, im just lazy lol2
Is it a bad sign when you sit in your car for as long as possible before going into your office building? Asking for a friend.5
Two states of a developer every day:
• Fuck this job. I hate everyone and everything. My code sucks. It's not working. Why did I choose this career?! I am so miserable.
• It works! I'm a programmer god. Oh my goodness I'm smarter than everybody.4
I hate being in program purgatory. You don't know whether your program froze, or the CPU is hustling to crunch out those numbers. To kill or not to kill. That is the question. Q.Q2
😒 I just found a new method of how to stay awake throughout the night without sleeping.... No coffee required
.. By 10pm
Start a project and name dictionary.py
On visual studio make sure you are not using internet because this is an exam and cheating ain't allowed..
Now start coding until it fully functioning and can generate random words out of predictions...
😩 Feel free to hate me after trying that1
I am falling asleep in front of my PC right now. I hate it when people disturb my sleep on Sunday ☕3
Coding tests. I hate them. On any timed test, I completely lock up and forget everything I know. I'm amazed I've gone 26 years in my career without being fired for not taking tests well. Because, as we all know, that's the core task of every single job. Taking timed tests and shit.8
When I was a junior engineer I used to hate writing unit tests but now I look forward to writing them.
Well written Unit tests will save your life6
I hate web dev because I know enough to know how it "should" be done, know that it's not done that way, but also don't know enough to do it that way quickly.
Or why I spent the last 2 days scripting deployment of a website that costs 9$ a year to run, when I couldn't find a deployment script anywhere else.3
I hate when I’m telling a story about something that happened that frustrated me and then the person I’m speaking to interrupts to say “I don’t know why you’re taking it out on *me*” and I’m like “I’m not, I’m just telling you the …” “You’re shouting at me!” “I fucking WASN’T [BUT I AM NOW]” and then I can’t finish my goddamn rant and instead of getting the goddamned thing out of my system I’m just fucking frustrated and seething.5
After the 4th time of being reminded to log all possible hours, including those for which I’m mostly researching and not producing code or deliverables, I’m finally just doing it. I hate billing for low impact activities. A) Because I’m slow at everything and B) If I were the client I’d be pissed that I got charged 2 hours for what amounted to 10 minutes of actual coding and launching the feature.3
You see that, over there?
That massive, 10-ton bag of dicks sitting there in the corner?
Secure Code Warrior can eat that ENTIRE FUCKING THING!
SO many flaws in their tests... SO much HIGHLY questionable content... utterly RIDICULOUS bullshit code with no comments and no context... asking me fucking Angular questions when I'm doing an Express test... two answers that are IDENTICAL... and a busted-ass site on top of it all.
I hate this motherfucking bullshit SO much, and at this moment I hate my employer even more for forcing me to deal with it.
But, hey, I hope you enjoy no work getting done today since you seem to prefer I do this instead, so I guess I'll just scare my dog some more as I yell about this bullshit.
Fuck you Secure Code Warrior, fuck you very, VERY much.7
Waiting for the floors I just mopped to dry, and I'm still thinking about migrating and if, for example, the swiss give me a good job offer, I would most likely stick around. I don't hate to stick around Europe, but it defo doesn't have any of the elements I like. (megacity, snows, English speaking, multicultural, non-torturous migration laws)
Like, I'm at that point where I'm not making enough money and want to leave (also, gaining the freedom to leave from degree soon enough) but I absolutely hate my home place (personal reasons) but they pay a crapton better, plus I can get social security benefits.
... And I want to do a phd. 😐
Someone beat some sense into me please.13
You probably hate bootstrap and jQuery, as I do, but if you block CDN paths for these libraries, you'd probably never see the internet as it was intended.
Side note: web devs, please learn media queries, vm and em for font sizes, and etc. You really don't need complicated stuff, browsers already have your back, I promise.4
I do not have the capacity to look for a job. I hate trial-and-error, I can't lie and I suck at talking to people in all but a cooperative context. I'm a decent webdev and I'm willing to learn, but to be able to do it I need skills that I don't have and I wouldn't need.6
Blizzard clowns have done it again… they changed male/female to body type selection. Voices are still male/female, characters are still referred as he/she. Fuck these pandering piece of shits.
I hate non-tech people hijacking tech field inch by inch.60
I just hate how my body believes that coding time and snack time are synonyms. Like ok, i might have been eating some chips or noodles while i was doin' the thinking, but hell, i cannot just empty 2 or 3 bowls of food each time i have to open and IDE.. How can you guys keep yourselves busy from eating when you fight the evil forces of bugged code?3
dude fuck fucking salesforce i fucking hate the day someone came up with the brilliant ass idea of inventing this garbage crm software that i must deal with even though it is not my area. i fucking hate the developer experience to do third-party implementations, not letting you upload changes to another environment for the sake of """"good practices"""", the fucking interface is slow as shit i could've already had intense hto sex, taken a shit, cook lunch and sleep 2 hours before it can load a single retarded lightning page.
why? WHY? WHYYY? WHY MUST THIS ASSWARE EXIST? WHY?
AS A FACT I'VE WRITTEN THIS RANT BEFORE THE DAMN PAGE EVEN LOADED A CONFIGURATION SECTION. GOD HELP US.5
More a call for discussion...
How can it be that devs constantly whine about technical debt, how everything is "ancient" bla bla bla...
Yet don't want to update libraries / stuff unless one explicitly rams an klingon pain stick up their arse because one is very very very very tired of lame excuses.
Even better example - and reason for the rant - new microservice.
They honestly started with JDK 8.
Looking at the dependencies is like walking in a museum...
OWasp Dependency check?
Lot's of 7.5s and greater (NVD score).
How brain fucked ignorant can one team be?!!!
Let alone that that thing - despite being just a skeleton project - has already 178 dependencies.
I don't want to look at the build files, I'll guess I'd turn to Freddy Krueger otherwise...
But really - why whining all the time like you have a clit / arsehole full of sand and then starting a new project with an obviously copy pasted graveyard skeleton?!5
dont you just hate it when u want to hire devs but they ask for too much money so you decide to hire interns with experience ?
i became what i always despised7
Anger management cooking.
Joke aside, I mostly have no clue what I'm doing.
Cooking and gardening (sadly no longer a possibility) are two thing where my brain goes out and I just do it.
It has happened more than once that this has failed... But most of the time it goes surprisingly well.
I'm absolutely not an accurate or refined cook.
I hate cutting stuff "even sized"… I hate when it looks perfect. I hate swiping off drops of the plate so it looks more refined....
So yeah, it might look like puke. But it's tasty. XD11
Most useless feature?
Any this business seems to think is the next great way to make their lives easier - by adding 500 more steps into an already complex series of cowboy processes.
I love and hate my job some days 🤦♂️1
I have to install windows for this project because I usually work in spare half hours and the virtual machine takes 15 minutes to boot.
I tried to Google what to do if my only windows machine has space on the secondary disk only, because the install media creator requires 8 gigabytes. The only answers were mocking the op for buying a 50 GB SSD. I didn't even start working and I already hate the windows community.4
Why is everyone on linked in such a fake pussy? I hate seeing the fake nice guy posts, it irritates the fuck outa me4
I wanna go back to the age where a C program was considered secure and isolated based on its system interface rathe than its speed. I want a future where safety does not imply inefficiency. I hate spectre and I hate that an abstraction as simple and robust as assembly is so leaky that just by exposing it you've pretty much forfeited all your secrets.
And I especially hate that we chose to solve this by locking down everything rather than inventing an abstraction that's a similarly good compile target but better represents CPUs and therefore does not leak.31
Chromium cannot sign in (to Google) anymore to sync.
I would just like to know, why does google hate secure systems?14
Teammate turned my neat minimal service architecture into dog's breakfast.
Now I don't know which one I hate more. Him or ROS.5
Idk why but it feels like lately i've such a pessimist approach to any new-tech (barring languages)
Any new framework or wrapper or CI/CD handler and without even seeing beyond description my instinct goes "fuccccccccck this, I hate it, it'll break things"
I wonder if theres a way to fix this mindset T__T or am I just getting old idkkk6
i have grown to HATE short variable names
nevermind all the generic names like thing/item/object/component
cute, good enough...oh wait it's referenced here 50 times in a sea of some loop? well fuk...how do... nope highlighting wont work - int, idkwtftonamethisvar, it's a common vowel. can't sed/regex a stand alone 'i' just...gg. gl finding or recognizing a single letter
about to start using iii or i_cnt14
Everything there is functionally relevant. (sticky notes, one pen, reading lamp)
I abso-fucking-lutely hate clutter, plus, a clean desk inspires me to innovate/create.2
I’m so fucking tired of having to work with shitty code day in and day out and not being able to optimize it. I want to quit so bad without having a job lined up… I fucking hate being a developer now thanks to these fucking pieces of shit.7
I fucking hate Halloween costume stress, I am so fucking dumb that I can’t think of anything to dress as. I might just stay home tbh bc fuck all of this shit.15
I hate, I really really hate other students leaving their homeworks and assignments on the school's computers, they clutter everything and bloat the desktop with garbage, at least have some decency and put it inside a folder!
Today I got welcomed by another of those desktops and I decided to give them some help with their assignments, i.e I changed their python scripts for improvised Ackerman functions.7
I made my passion my job, programming servers & web dev. Although it has been productive economically it has sucked the fun out of programming servers for me...so as a way to rediscover my passion I'm giving game dev a try. After a couple of weekends playing with a game engine this is what I've got, a monkey dev with a suit that jumps from project cabinet to project cabinet avoiding hazards, drinking coffee and trying to make some money (someone told me I should express myself and I took that personally).
I'm pretty much done but the hazard placeholders (a box and an arrow) don't convince me so I wanted to see if my fellow disenfranchised developers had some ideas of what my developer should be avoiding/being hit by, preferably something I could draw easily since as you can see I'm not much of an artist although I've also though of just words falling like "deadline" or something.
Anyway any feedback is welcome, take it ez I've never drawn anything more than a stickman and this is my first attempt at something playable. Small Rant plus question. Happy Monday.14
I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux I hate Redux9
I hate how React is used almost everywhere nowadays. Especially when single-page applications are used for purposes that don't actually benefit from them.
Perhaps I'm just old-fashioned, but I want websites to work even with client-side JS disabled. At least sites like Amazon don't rely on it, and work just fine. Progressive enhancement is the way to go.4
I fucking hate apple so goddamn much. They make it next to impossible to connect or reset an old account from 10+ years ago for any modern services unless you are invested in their ecosystem and use it everyday for everything. Have not had any issues with old app accounts connecting through Google. Just sayin10
" this person made me mad and blocked me after. You can hack their Facebook right... so I can get the last word "
No I can not. And even if I did posses the knowledge and ability to. Why should I care you were probably being stupid too to them.
I don't care to involve myself in petty people problems. Honestly If they blocked you that should be the end of it grow the fuck up.
It's 10 at night. Too late for people to be bothering me. Especially with stupid stuff.4
I hate how some people cannot write coherent fucking sentences in an email. I wish I can vote them off to relearn English. When you're describing a fucking issue, you cannot use words like criss cross. WTF does that even mean?!!8
Recruiter bot just emailed me with some offers, let's take a look...
"Hand-on Experience with SQL and NO-SQL Databases preferably Redux"
Whew! I was worried for a second, thank god they are using a Redux database and not one of those really crappy React databases! I'll really consider applying now.
I just found the current main project of the people who originally wrote the codebase I’m mainly working with. After all these years they still write incoherent spaghetti mess. I need to make a throwaway GH account just to tell them people like them are the reason people hate PHP…1
I can see why companies hate hiring junior devs. The ones I've worked with have been incompetent. If I was the hiring manager, the only time I'd hire a full fledged junior dev for a full stack role is if they have already built a simple full stack website. Ugh.13
I fucking hate my job
Man it’s been a year now freelancing and just working like a dog day and night for a scammy dating app and I just wanna shoot myself in the face at this point. Just another horrible day after the other dealing with a bunch of assholes.3
I hate it when managers and team members don't utilise JIRA as the one source of truth.
When you move your card into the Review column, set the assignee to `unassigned` so that people know to pick it up. It's so much easier to understand the state of it !
"But then we don't know who's worked on it" - is NOT a valid reason to leave the original author as the assignee. It just leads to work not being reviewed.
I hate programming!!
I hate programming!!
I hate programming!!
Oh it works!!
I love programming!!
I love programming!!
I love programming!!1
I get it. Hooks prevent code repetition. But personally I hate them. I don’t know why. I just don’t like writing them. Maybe it’s because I like writing “this”. Weird, right?3
Can someone help me how to focus for 6 straight hours/day until the end of this month? Got 1 last exam left till i graduate with comp. science degree. I have to study databases but only theory. And i fucking hate reading text. I hate theory. I like solving problems analytically and theory is my weakness.
I read theory shit for a few mins and then distract myself with mobile games and tiktok for a few hours... I cant concentrate studying this shit...
How do i forcefully focus.
Can someone suggest me the best app that actually works to help me focus or something? Or some yt sound waves music?15
How to manage when you start something good for you, start taking decisions for your good and people start spreading hate about you. It obviously will effects your mental health right?
How you guys manage it? I mean how?
Today I'm feeling of getting bullied and getting bullied again from the same person. I'm correct but can't show the correctness just because there's no proof I've in-hand.
I'm literally tired of people now!4
Does soft-bricking my PC with broken MBRs count?
Otherwise, to stay fit I like to walk/hike. Hate any kind of exercise, unfortunately, but found a way to stay relatively fit by just going walking regularly
Since this daily schedule stuff is catching on, here's my day!
- Wake up
- Eat breakfast
- Eat lunch
- Brush Teeth/floss
- School (part time graduate school)
- Hate life for 2 more years5
Alright! I take it back. I don’t like “this”. Hooks are better. But are they the best? We will see.
Learn Rust and Elixir because of my hopefully new and exciting role. I want to become production ready developer for these languages as quickly as possible. But more than anything I want my new role not making me hate my profession.
And also I would like to start a long duration relationship. Can’t have it all though.3
I hate servers that only support EFI boot with a passion. Yes, legacy / BIOS boot is old, but it was so simple. I've been spending hours trying to get EFI boot working on servers with swraid-ed disks and *nothing* works without ugly hackish patches all over!
Anyone successfully got an EFI partition (/boot/efi) on an MDRaid device? D':4
I hate power cuts..
I have an UPS though, so, I don't hate them so much..
Except for ones that last longer than the battery life of the UPS..
Then it means I have to turn off servers..
And guess what, one of them won't turn on again !
I do have a backup server, but it isn't as powerful, and will only cover the basic's..
So, lesson there, always have at least one running spare server as powerful as you need, ready to take over when another server decides its not going to play nice..
This is why I don't like powering things down, ever !7
Anytime a designer tries to make a development estimate or tells you what to do, immediately raise your hand and shout a firm “No!” - sometimes I hate these fuckers.1
Starting my day with 15 emails that I urgently need to respond to. I hate Thursdays. It's just meetings and emails and more meetings and more emails. No time to get work done.2
At my new internship I am have to work in Magento. I come to FUCKING hate it.
From the phtml files, the choice between caching or having to wait 20 fucking seconds for a page reload to the huge file structure and the "documentation".
The whole fucking thing is a mess with a shit load of bugs and confusing git tickets that never seem to be added as updates!!!
Fucking hate this shit
I hate fucking "managers"
The idiot that got a referral bonus, and kept it, is one.
Ffs I helped her for months in my previous company. Now she probably makes more than me.4
I HATE being a fullstack dev. I am responsible for everything. Its so exhausting because you cant focus on one thing.
Or its just me not being able to organize things....5
Don't you just hate it when the service you are using keeps on sending you ADs on a daily basis, and call them and tell them to stop, you get no result, I ALREADY USE THEIR SERVICES, SO WHY DO YOU TORTURE ME EVERYDAY8
Something I hate about working in the team is that the code reviewer will stall the time and leave a lot of pull requests unreviewed. As more code changes more commits and more pull requests.
The code base is conflicting with each other, what the fuck? I hate this.6
I will keep this short. I fucking hate Windows 11. There is nothing I like about it after over four weeks of having its fuckery drip down everything I do on my laptop like radioactive maple syrup. None of my apps from Windows 10 work. I google troubleshooting and I'm not going to go through 10 hacks to solve a problem created by Microsoft. The screen moves all over the place for no reason. I hate it. Not as much as I hated Mac, but I'm going to revert back to Windows 10 if I can. I don't wish to separate my laptop screen from my laptop keyboard again. The only person I know who can fix it tried to steal a hundred and twenty bucks from me. Thank you for reading this rant I'm living a charmed life otherwise, but snipping tool just fucked up and I'm fucking fed up. Peace out.17
I hate frameworks and I hate people (and companies) who disable comments because they hope to hide from questions and also hide themselves from the hate
Now I have nothing left to do but post hate on DevRant. There you have it. I hope your framework burns in hell; all versions of it.3
Senior dev on our team is concerned that we are raising standards above and beyond what we need to deliver the project.
For 6m+ this project has delivered little, but what there is is full of bugs that got through testing, and no standards (coding or otherwise) in place at all.
I hate dealing with people who preach “good enough” is fine but won’t accept they aren’t even close to doing “good enough”7
A YouTube creator I follow included a clip of The Chicken Song by Spitting Image in a video. I had managed to, for over a decade, forget this song existed.
Now it’s back.
To haunt my every moment of silence.
Situation: I have a love hate relationship with python due to the lack of types as I have in more established languages such as C#, Java and shit even TypeScript
Situation (cont): A rather large codebase that i have developed for multiple processes at work run on Python.
I don't hate it, I just don't absolutely love it, there is a lot of things to like about Python, but man I do have some conflicts with it, I have been facing out to use other solutions that feel scripty, such as the newer versions of C# with .net, but I would say that about 80% of our codebase runs on Python, the rest is PHP.
My codebase running on Python is huge, and they do a lot from automation scripts, to data gathering and database management, never had I been bitten with the "oh noes is so slow" bug since my code is not Google level big, for everything else Python seems rather fast imho
I dunno, big time love hate relationship9
Because promises can be retained after they settle, and handlers attached thereafter are pushed on the microtask queue, a promise rejection can't be asserted to be unhandled until the promise in question is GC'd.
Of course this is nuts so engines will conclude that a promise rejection is unhandled if there are no handlers at the moment of rejection.
I hate this language.10
What would be the easiest starting point on low level languages?
I started with java, learned to hate it.
I continued with web development, learned to hate it.
Continued with PHP, learned to hate it.
Continued with scripting languages like Python, NodeJS, etc.., hated it from the beginning but it was easy.
But everytime i touch something like c/c++/rust/etc i immeadiatly give up, because the syntax is so different than all these other high level languages and so much null/type safety and so on.
But i want to get into low level programming languages which compile to an executable and don't get executed on some "vm".12
I’d like to have a DevRant dataset so I can make some great visualizations, text analysis, etc. of the things we hate the most. This is top priority, thanks in advance.5
Working at a different company for a few weeks before getting back to my usual work.
I'm using everything I hate: ReactJS, factories, style through JS, Jira, Teams, TDD...
The only good thing is I'm using TypeScript...1
I hate being a dick as much as the next guy, but damnit I hate spam even more!
And I can't think of a worse kind of spam than religious propaganda sent by your own family members when they already know you ain't religious, heck they even tried to kick me out of the house when I lived with them.
"...send this to 8 more people you wish a day full of blessings"
"YouTube - 10 ways to meditate with Jesus"
"How Stephen Hawkins proves God"
I've had enough, WhatsApp isn't for people to evangelize or send 3000+ characters of copy pasted, mass produced, soul-less "good wishes"; that's why from now on I'm bringing the fight to them, for every spammy text/video/image I get I'll double down and send 10 opposing spam videos or messages.
I just replied a "The most beautiful thoughts, talking to God" video with the monologue of George Carlin on religion and God.
Am I being a dick? kinda
Could I just ask them to stop? I find this more amusing and spares me the "you don't want me to 'talk' to you" shit4
Your code will probably take 10x longer to debug and write.
But hey, now all your segfaults will be exceptional!24
Don't you hate it when you order something, its in the postal service, and then it never arrives..
Then you have to get a refund, and order it again, probably from somewhere else in case the first vendor really didn't put it in the post, and has a bad score..
Good thing I'm not dying of anything that I could do with the pills for . . .2
I hate installing things with pip. It has to be the worst set up for a package installer. About 75% of the time something I'm installing fails and I have to look up why. Coming from npm and yarn where it just works I can't stand the disconnect I get when trying to get into something and I have to configure stuff for the first 3 hours before I can actually do anything.4
I know we are supossed to complete tasks fast.
But god I hate it when they ask for a "simple fix" that they have no fucking clue how to even begin to do. Clients obviously don't have to know this, but my boss can't code an if statement yet feels as though he can say what's easy and what's not and how long it'll take.2
I hate CRUD operations so much.
I'm so tired of programming CRUD demo applications and then filling it with some logic only in services. It's so ugly. No domain model. Just entity, repository, service, controller.
I hope I'll be able to work on something better soon, but cmon, why are we forced to work like this.
I've recently started reading book about DDD and it's at least a bit more interesting than just writing some fancy API for database8
For those not familiar with it.
So, just how do you stop mobbing from spreading ?
I don't know the answer, all I can see if perhaps to spot it happening, as it does with a single individual who spouts hate towards you when you disagree with them, and then that hate is taken up by others who see you as a weak target, and then others follow too..
Kinda reminds me of a war..
Maybe that is what drives some in conflicts, being influenced by others.
Just yesterday I saw someone I had known and chatted to for 30+ years, suddenly turn into an aggressive hate spieling identity with no ability to think for themselves.
I left the situation, so that their hate may be directed at someone else, and perhaps others might see that they are the hater, intent on picking on the weakest in the herd.
But of course, I can't do that all the time, or else, where will I find intelligent conversation between folk who can be civil about disagreements, and allow exploring the problem space, and solution space together.
Rather than just trading insults like simple mammals who throw poop at each other.
So, any advice ?23
I’m sooo excited when any new frontend JS framework is available. Angular, React, more recently Vue, Svelte. Bring ‘em on. I wanna try them all.
As long as the tools at hand allow me to get the job done, keep clients and end users happy, I don’t give a fuck.
This meme is actually the epitome of what I hate with a lot of web developers I’ve encountered2
Lead dev runs the program I gave him to set up a bunch of processes that run for one database.
It has a GUI that seems native to his windows environment......but it sort of is not.
The program runs, asks for the .csv file that is to be parsed into the database.
Lead dev: Ok, what is this though?
Me (his boss) "Don't worry about it"
Him: "Holy shit what the fuck is this??? TELL ME!!!"
Me: DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT
Him: "WTF DID YOU MAKE THIS IN???!
ME: DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT
CMS Admin (another one of my employees) "Would you TWO SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!?"
New Guy (mainly a frontend dev): ........
Meanwhile, in production, no one knows if your gui app is built in Lazarus and Free Pascal, as long as it works.
I really need to stop doing this to the lead dev, dude already keeps trying to choke me for writing things in perl.
On another note, Object Pascal is pretty cool. Might write a book on it for those that want to do CLI based applications on it, I have no clue why every book on the subject costs in euros, but there should be more shit written for beginners, language is awesome and one can get lots of mileage from Lazarus and FPC11
Ask me to build a backend system with AWS services, docker containers and ExpressJS/Laravel, I am down with that.
Ask me to move an image to the center of a div, I am tapping out.10
So, I am currently on Spring Break, and what do I do when I am on Spring Break: I take a moment to experiment with different languages. This time, I decided to check out Objective C since it mixes up two languages that I love dearly (but that I do not use outside of academic endeavors) which are C and Smalltalk.
Going around the net I found this https://github.com/Flying-Toast/...
Notice: I have nothing against Swift, I stopped developing apps for IOS back when Swift was in its infancy, so I was forced to use Objective C and tbh I never had an issue with it, I had learned it before through GNUStep, the language was obviously strange when I started learning it, but I did not hate it, I tried following Swift to see if I could use it at least in some portions, but at the time of its release it was still pretty much beta for me, so I passed. I feel it is much better now, but the issues with the language at this point in time I feel are more from the side of XCode which can either be just ok, good or an absolute piece of shit depending on the release. Either way, I found the link to be funny.2
I tend to be OS agnostic, but I hate the way that Microsoft treats yesterday’s hardware like garbage. I was an unfortunate owner of a surface rt. I also currently own 3 machines with older i7 processors that are not supported by Windows 11.21
Who around here is saying the looovveeeee mobile development? EVERYTIME i come back to it, it's just cert nightmare - you need a provisioning profile this, distribution cert that, your profile has to INCLUDE the cert, on and on and on. god i hate it
Wanna know how I do it with web?
Thanks I hate it, I hate the fact that typescript will still transpile this. Not an exact copy of the code I'm working with, but close enough. Also this code targets es3, but we generate tsconfigs that say es5 (which don't actually get used) which leads me to believe that we generate them soley for the benefit of ides, and because if they said es3 the ide would show even more errors7
I hate it when I go to bed early to sleep early but can't sleep a blink for some unknown reason & I just move left & right hoping to fall asleep any minute but end up not being able to sleep at all the whole night :(
whyyyyyy? why cant humans sleep within seconds like a computer???? :(5
I hate cloud corps like GCP for pushing down our throats half-baked solutions as Datastore. Why can't i do a simple "NOT IN [list]" query ffs?! Why do you have multiple syntax for doing the same things? Where is your fkin user guide for everything your app can/cannot do? fk u goog2
Boss wants Kotlin for all projects.
Reason : he like its. (Basically hyped by other developers or meetings)
I hate Java and itz other shitz12
I'm starting to rethink the 'Software Developer' title as 'Sanity Maintainer'...
Software Development is just convoluted.. and it often comes with stress; I hate stress.2
tl;dr: crop-rotating projects
I have 3 concurrent projects because I can only remember how I felt about two of them, so this way when I've had enough of pygame's bullshit I can happily continue working on php without my hatred towards asp.net stopping me in any way. By the time I start hating php I will have forgotten why I hate asp and be ready to continue on that.
When you’re so sleep deprived from days with no sleep and you’re writing only a few lines every 30 minutes after overlooking linters and fixing syntax errors, but you need to get the work done **lid-pop**… Hate it but love it..3
I hate it when my laptop / phone tells me I don't have permission or admin acessvto do anything..😔😔😞..I feel like I own u mann c'mon..12
a few jobs have wrecked my mental health to where i am so concentrated on trying to get out i can't enjoy jack shit or get motivated to do anything.
i hate having to look busy, absolutely makes me mald.
i hate dealing with the same repetitious bs every day, especially when it's others being idiots and me reexplaining things or redoing work.4
Ok now that I learned react and nextjs i just want to say that I FUCKING HATE REACT AND NEXTJS FUCK YOU THIS SHIT IS SO STRESSING AND MIND CONSUMING. I'D RATHER USE ANGULAR EVEN FOR A SMALL PROJECT WHICH IS AN OVERKILL THAN REACT. I'LL USE REACT ONLY IF IM FORCED TO USE REACT AND HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE.18
I FUCKING HATE MICRO$OFT AND WINDOWS SO SO FUCKING MUCH THEY CANT EVEN MAKE UPDAYES WORK PROPERLY IT LKTERALLT JUST MADE MY PC DISPLAY A LITERAL FUCKING RECOVERY SCREEN FUCK YOU MICRO$OFT5
Do y'all use Blazor? .-. the C#-based web-UI (web assembly one)
Thinking of going in on it hard coz I hate to think of a world where backend is written in JS (🤮) just for better interoperability with JS-based UI and cheaper devs to hire (JS-fullstacks) 🤮🤮🤮5
Honest question: Is Jira really that bad?
Iam using Jira. It is not blazing fast nor is the UI amazing but I wouldn't rate it so badly.
That said, when the UI gets cluttered it's mostly company-internal stuff that fills up space (not only Jiras fault). I also don't use confluence.
But I see so many rants on it, is this just people jumping on the hate-hype-train?12
NPC stereotypical dev: "I self identify as socially awkward."
NPC stereotypical dev: <Gets irrationally angry about friendly banter.>
NPC stereotypical dev: "I hate people who try to interact with me socially."
And knowing is half the battle. GI Joe!1
I f*cking hate "ticket creep". I feel like half my worktime (as a tech lead) is spent just to contain what people ask for or report in a ticket. "No, you fool, this ticket isn't about that, file a different one!" is what i'm most likely to be thinking during any work day.3
being in a state of mind where i hate everything and everyone, feeling suffocating, alone and incapable to achieve anything, and having no mood to get out of bad or eat or do anything.3
get a high priority bug , look at code changes, a variable name getting refactored apparently created a class cast exception
something about this hypothesis doesn't seem right
i hate my job, welcome back from vacation2
I used to hate email and to consider it a chore but after adopting "inbox zero", switching from web based shit to a proper client and automating the management of the many automatic notifications I get everyday I'm starting to think which when well managed email is still one of the best asynchronous communication tools, far better than sluggish and distracting chats like Teams or Slack which have their place but I think which currently they're pretty overrated.1
It’s taken me 20 years to realize that I love tech but hate corporate IT. The thought of spending another 20+ years sitting in meetings listening to people drone on about nonsense, spending countless hours performing system upgrades when all I want to do is code, etc. just makes me sick to my stomach. It’s the same day over and over again.2
I FUCKING HATE FIREFOX
WHY CANT YOU FUCKING TRANASGFET MY PASSWORDS YOU DUMBASS
AND IFUCKING HATE PHPSTORM AWND WHY IS IT PAID>???????????????????????????????????? WHYhhyYHWHYTH WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
CLAP MY FUCKING CHEEKS JON CLAP THEM YOU FUCKING IMBECILE8
I have to make a change to one of our web apps today. I hate front end, the code for this is terrible, the fix is going to be horrible and hacky.
I really miss having some kind of motivation for this work, it would make life easier.
Instead it’s just one empty pointless day after another.
I don’t understand why people hate windows, especially windows 11??
Running Windows 11 on a Dell Latitude 3520 with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, I was able to go from the computer completely shutdown to a new 3D unity project fully loaded and ready to go in only 1 minute and 25 seconds!!! That’s from completely shutdown!
I haven’t overclocked the PC or anything and have used half of the 465GB storage!20
It can’t be only me.
Long story short. A second grade classmate suddenly reconnects with me. We talk about this and that, exchange some memories, the usual. 20 minutes into the conversation… she goes: Can you do a website for me for my….
I hate these kind of people, I mean you have a better change just telling me without the foreplay, it’s just making me angry.4
As much as i love kotlin, i hate that you dont have static functions like in java. You have to put them in a companion object or write them in extension functions outside of the class.
Also when working with generics (lets say T) you cant call T::class.java unless you are in an inlined function and mark T as refeied. This is not the case in java i think. I havent checked.1
As we’re moving into summer, I can’t help but fall into that “shit I hate this” mentality again. I’m a naturally sweaty person, but even on the edges of summer I feel like my skin has a layer of moist just… sitting there. My sleep is shit, I’m irritated and I never know what to wear to feel comfortable. Just a full season of discomfort. Wish I could just WFH to create a somewhat comfortable environment in summer.18
Has anyone engineered getting layoff before?
I don't know why, but I dread waking up to the job. It all seems meaningless and a waste of time. I know I'm coming from a place of privilege. But what's the point of doing something you abhor and trading your life for money on shit you hate?1
Lol, installing an Abp package literally breaks startup, you don't even have to use the package, just install it and the shit breaks.
God I hate this bloated piece of shit framework, can't wait to move this codebase to Go.
I had to contact technical support for an API. I’m pretty sure I was emailing with a bot because I was getting all sorts of stupid replies.
Me: I’m using your SDK for language X. It’s returned null for some properties. In the user portal, I can see there are values for those properties for the transaction. I don’t know why I’m not receiving them on my end.
Tech Support: Hi! I see the following was sent in the API response. [Sends api response to me.] You can also go the the portal to see those values.
Me: Yeah, I know. You just repeated everything I wrote to you. I don’t want to go to the portal. I told you I want to figure out why your SDK doesn’t seem to map those properties correctly when I receive the api response.
TS: Let me look at the docs. I think you need to send the properties you want in your request in order to get them back in the reply from the api. Such as <property>value<property> in the xml message.
🤨 The docs do not say that. They don’t even imply that.
Me: What the fuck?! That makes absolutely no sense. We have already established that the api **is** returning values for those properties. I want to troubleshoot why your SDK is mapping them as NULL.
GMail -> New Filter -> Includes "Magento" or "Specialist" in subject or body -> Delete Immediately
God I hate scrubby spam bots
I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE TEEN TITANS GO, IT RUINED TEEN TITANS FOR ME AND I HATE THOSE LITTLE STUPID DUMB VERSIONS OF THE ORIGINAL BETTER TEEN TITANS.
IT SHOULD'VE NEVER HAPPENED AND NEVER EXISTED AND I FUCKING HATE IT AND IT SUCKS!
WE SHOULD CANCEL TEEN TITANS GO AND RUIN THE PEOPLE WHO MADE IT AND DIRECTED ITS LIVES. I AM FILLED WITH HATRED AND RAGE, AND WHEN THEY MAKE THOSE STUPID UNFUNNY "JOKES" IT PISSES ME OFF AND MAKES ME WANT TO COMMIT MURDER! I AM SO PISSED OFF AFTER WATCHING AN EPISODE OF IT, THE CREATORS SHOULD BE SUED.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ENJOY WHAT I HAVE TO SAY.4
I hate Postman tests.
There has to be a better way of testing a set of apis working together than this clunky unreliable pile of shite4
Hate on PHP all you want but ain’t no web framework gives you everything out of the box like Laravel does.8
I fucking hate people who keep changing little things when the big things don't change for the better to annoy me !
I hate it when I want to implement a 3rd party API and their docs have no hint at how to create a test account.. Why do they make me call their sales team / bother their support for that?4
Just fucking hate how expensive and hard to find a cheap SMS gateway
And as in cheap, I mean cheap as send email
I found Cheap Global SMS and it doesn't have a professional website nor a good API but it is way more cheap
Downside? I must pay with a payment gateway made by the same company (coincidence?)
And NO WAY I'm sending my id to a payment gateway that no one uses
I'll try sending some random image to see if they accept it
But, still, no confidence to put my credit card in there2
I fucking hate how almost every website now requires your email to be able to download a simple document template
Why tha fuck do you need my email for????
just let me download your fucking template6
how to deal with toxic coworker? everybody hate him, he hates everybody, but this piece of shit is only backend guy here. and I need to create tasks for him. so cant really ignore.9
I hate my scrum calls so much. People go into the fucking weeds and the scrum master is so clueless. Doesn't stop them and let people ramble. Jesus christ.
If scrum calls last more than 10 minutes, I think you're doing it wrong.1
Please read your email before clicking send. I hate to read your babbling and your spelling mistakes.1
I hate feelings and emotions. Just got a [normal] text and I'm pretty shaken and my thoughts are everywhere.3
Leave it to an investing company 'dUe DiLigAnCe' document to list the following requirement:
"Schema of computing infrastructure setups for development, testing, and production"
Ah yes, the highly technical and well-known term of "schema of computing infrastructure"
God I hate business people, so clueless
BRB going to start my own business and make real money. if these neanderthals are top investors, i can be too2
I hate systemd, i hate it. Which idiot wrote that piece of crap? And it isn't that easy to replace it when it is so embedded in the distro.
Its commands can't even output text normally, which should the absolute basic functionality of every program. And it does things automatically i didn't tell it to do, for example setting the system time to some random date instead of leaving it at 1970-01-01.
Tuesdays are great days to waste in meetings with vendors that have no idea of what they're talking about. Too bad these people always manage to convince the business side.
Working as a Dev for a while now, I tell new people not to bother with it. There is never any job satisfaction as people in charge never understand the basics.
Instead of learning to write efficient code, figure out how to solve real business problems, work towards a maintainable flexible product to quickly deliver value on changing requirements, write automated tests to improve quality, maintainability and prevent live issues - basically do anything a good Dev strives for - you will just constantly end up working for people with no interest beyond the next couple days, on a shit code base that no one can understand, with people that don't want to learn anything about software design and just check boxes off.
Apart from pay this must be the worst career possible in a technical field.4
Why there's so much hate on Joma Tech? I mean, my reaction to his content is somewhat neutral, he has better and worse videos, but there's some controversy around him I believe I'm missing. Why is he considered a fraud/sellout/whatever? I have only seen like 4-5 videos he made and I don't know if he's done anything that deserves hate4
I hate unit test. I hate testing by code.
I hate the idea to write code that tests code. And that u must update both when u add a feature. Like wtf.
Good debug mode with clear verbose and precise reporting tool and voila.
Drives me nuts thus trending shit.10
When you love react you gotta hate angular and when love angular you have to hate react. It can't be a 2 sided love. It's just what I feel.4
We should all skip work tomorrow - I just wanna have sex and eat pizza tomorrow. I hate new projects plthhhe5
Hope you don’t hate me, but I have a confession to make. When I’m on mobile, I like safari better than chrome. No explanation, I just do.6
Follow up to the rant before.
I fucking fixed it. And lo and behold, it was a goddamn linkerscript issue.
I FUCKING HATE THIS
AND I LOVE THIS.
Wow, it seems a lot of people on here hate web dev.
It sounds like they dont know what they are doing 😊12
I hate that unionization in our field is so pathetic. Sure, now we're still enjoying the benefits of being the aristocracy of labor with comfy positions, but that can change any moment and soon it will, with all the big companies firing now the massive numbers - and not having the solidarity now will render us all defenseless then.2
Anyone else get frustrated by the dust that sits on top of your computer?
Fuck me but I fucking hate this dusty shit, keep cleaning the screen and the keypad but oh well, next time I open there it is - all in its glory.
And there's this fucking constant worry that shit that dust might've gotten inside the laptop and now the performance is gonna fuck up.
SO FUCKING IRRITATING AARGH3
Why am I still using Apache? Must be some kind of Stockholm Syndrome. mod_rewrite is literally the worst. After all those years it still suprises with some shitty behaviour. Hate hate and hate and hate again!1
I literally create a template of flutter project with state manager (provider) . Other words, I hate setting up a new project in flutter every Fking time. So I created a Cli (written in dart) app that flutter create something something and delete the main.dart and download the templates from my source from GitHub. Like a few folders and files.
Yes...I am this lazy2
I'm sad because this stuff really sucks, and I hate when people lie to me about it. It's something I've never thought would happen to anyone - but there's never going to be any other way, I don't want anybody to believe I was tricked by a bunch of sadistic shill guys seeking sexual gratification. I've made some modest little bets - one time I made $100, and I never once received anything back.1
omg I forgot how annoying CSS could be. I hate nitty gritty details, maybe I should switch to backend. In my last job I was only doing the front-to-back and another dude was doing the design.
Where the fuck could those 8 pixels come from? I have no idea5
i hate children, all of them, every single one. all of those disgusting freeloaders!!! they don't pay money at all, yet they get to enjoy lavish lifestyles!! we need to stop this and dump them all in the trash! subscribe to my course to learn the best ways to kill children: ibeatkids.com3
Don't you hate it when you get a new USB-C 3.0 to 1,000Mbps network adapter and then find out its USB-C 2.0 to 100Mbps under the hood..
Or maybe its just shipped with old drivers ?
i really fucking hate books, books are so annoying. if you comment on this rant with "lol" or some shit, how is this funny? i have an extreme hatred for books and this is not a joke, i am anti-book.30
I hate debating on if a question is too stupid to ask stackoverflow.
But I've already spent 20 minutes searching for the solution myself and I've come to the conclusion either I don't know the right thing to search, or I don't understand what I'm really looking for.
Both of which lead me to stackoverflow. Hmm 🤔🤔1
Begin to hate Java, moving to kotlin soon . For android development at least with Jetpack compose. Java is deprecated in almost every API.
You know I don't want to hate everyone
Since you guys seem so intentionally narrating ok fucked up mindsets you all apparently create in your psycho offspring
Wouldn't it make more sense to put this suppose duplicate who is like allof you creatures in this ?
Unless I'm gonna be contracted to remove people who do these awful things it's a waste of time really8
I love JS but I hate JS Frameworks. All of them, but react by passion. I used a bit vue with Laravel but meh... Angular i did not tried.7
Steam, f you because of your beautiful idea to expire gslts "on the fly" as soon as a server is not online for the glimpse of me taking a shit.2
I hate when people walk on your charger's cable like it is public property, something acceptable. What the actual fuck; public decency is slowly fading away from the public?3
fucking hate implementing a chat feature in the apps! a couple of moving parts and edge case handling!2
I hate the “life sucks and is meaningless ihihihi” millennial humor and I hate it even more when I find it here on DevRant1
I f**king hate you JS, I hate you.
I beg our vast developer community, please replace this sh*t, or else
to Microsoft, let the devs access GitHub copilot for free. I don't want my best coding practices to fade away bcuz of this sh*t.1
Personally, I hate Vue, it just doesn’t feel right. I don’t get why anyone would even think to use that.10
Even tho I really hate UI in .NET like Xamarin and Windows SDK
I still love reusing all of my C# service and extensions
Rather stay in .NET than learn JS and CSS2
I really hate when stakeholders treat me like an idiot. No, I didn’t change the existing logic of the website. It wasn’t discussed in the scope, so why would I touch it? Stakeholder, you “double checking” like this is demeaning and will only cause me to refuse future requests from you. Plus, you were at the meeting when we discussed scope, so there should be no questioning my intelligence like this.
I hate AudioContext. Visitors might like it since it does not permit websites to blast loud sounds. However, as a developer, I hate it. Before AudioContext existed everything was cool. Suddenly it appeared from nowhere. I had no clue that Chrome added it. Now my websites aren't as exciting at first glance anymore.7
To all my asian friends with YouTube channels, please take some time to learn proper english word pronunciation, I totally hate going to a video with info I definitely need but I have to skip it because I don't understand shit.
Am not asian , i may not understand the struggles of pronunciation in english coming from your native language.15
i have a hatred for disgusting filthy non-cookies-with-ketchup-eaters and they disgust me, i hate them so much and they dont appreciate the art that is cookies with ketchup.
it pisses me off so fucking much and i hate it, if someone could just eradicate those people off of the earth, i would appreciate that. i have a hit list for people who hate cookies with ketchup, and if you hate it, believe me, i am watching you.
annnnnnnnnnnd, thats too far..3
you know how i hate things that can't be verified without far more man hours than I have available ?
just requires you to take something on faith which may not be vital but it still requires you to take something on faith from a source you don't always trust.
Backend developer does not even sort his API results by ID or name. Damn. I hate dependencies like this. Simple things but they are too lazy to do.1
